Hi,
I'm struggling with depression at the moment and really want a good cry instead of feeling nothing.

Anyone else feel like this? What do you do when you need a good cry? Do you have any short video suggestions? Thank you in advance.

sorry you are struggling, op.
I've just had a wee cry to "time after time" by cyndi lauper, but that might not work for everyone & also it was the song not the video.

I’m sorry you’re feeling this way OP. The video of the Dad helping his son over the finish line in the Olympics one year always gets me. But then I teared up hearing Away in the Manger today so I’m hopeless. I hope it helps Flowers

So sorry that you're feeling this way Ruminating you are not alone.
It's hard for anyone at the best of times but atm it seems there's way too much shit to for most worry about. Look after yourself...if you really want a good sobbing cry then try 'My Octopus Teatcher' on netflix. I'm choking up just typing it out. x

Ooops for the extra 't'

I just watched the military wives movie and cried my eyes out, desperately trying to pull myself together now before a zoom meeting in ten minutes.
Hope you find something to help you x

I bet there's a compilation of tear-jerking adverts on YouTube - would something like that do the trick?

SweetLathyrus · 02/12/2020 15:48

War Horse - you get sad and happy tears.

JimmyTheBrave · 02/12/2020 16:32

I find Pixar films incredibly good at making me cry; the opening scene of Up makes me bawl

Chocolateteabag · 02/12/2020 16:35

Always (1989 film)

This film has me crying from about 10 mins in all the way through
Richard Dreyfus is a pilot fighting forest fires who dies but comes back to watch over Holly Hunter

It has Audrey Hepburn in too in one of her last films
It's my go to tear jerker

Shadowlands - about the author CS Lewis.
Meet Joe Black - it's a long haul to the end but the last fifteen minutes of sobbing are pretty intense for me.
The Railway Children - the original movie
Truly Madly Deeply - about a ghost who returns to his bereft girlfriend. Alan Rickman is just brilliant in it.
The English Patient - again a long haul but so worth it.
If black and white is your thing, then Brief Encounter will do it every time for me.

I meant to add that a tub of icecream tends to help things along. Sometimes you really need to just shut the world out and wallow in sadness. I think it's very healing, whatever your reason for needing to do it.
Also maybe consider episodes of Call the Midwife? Take care.

Magissa · 02/12/2020 17:07

Yes Military Wives. First time I've cried in ages.

Soldier homecoming and animals/lost dogs reuniting videos on YouTube

Thank you for your kind comments.

I just feel numb at the moment and want to desperately feel something.

I find crying has been therapeutic in the past which is why I want to cry.

I'm also feeling guilty because otherwise I'm fit and healthy and have enough to eat. Others are struggling with no job and having to rely on food banks and making the most of their situation. I'd just like to be me again I suppose and be happy with my lot.

Thanks for reading.
