Weird itch in..dodgy place.

Obviously a doctor could answer me better, and am currently trying to speak to one, have been for over a week but fanny issues seem to be not important righ now. So asking here for if anyone has had something similar, and how they sorted it. Was going to namechange for this but then figured I would maybe be marked as a troll given the topic!

So about 3 weeks ago, one tiny spot on my vulva became very itchy. There was nothing there, no cuts or anything, and it was, and still is, only in that very specific area. Its a patch maybe 1cm wide. I have no itching anywhere else so ruled out thrush as that would be weird to only be on a tiny part I think? Its itchy beyond belief..and confusing me a lot as still theres nothing that can be seen, I can feel no lumps, I don't shave down there so its not ingrown hair or anything..

I bet I regret posting this the second I press it. But has anyone else had this? Not sure whether to be massively worried or not, and its certainly not helping being put off repeatedly by the doctors..

So, anyone ever had anything similar, or even care to take a guess what this could be?! I am stuck.

I have a small patch of discoid eczema in a place similar to where you are describing (the hairy bit I presume? ). I was the same mad itch in a small place, couldn't see anything until I shone a torch down there. It started after I used a particularly potent shower gel. I was prescribed hydrocortisone cream and told to moisturise. It seems to keep it at bay.

Eurex cream is fantastic for stopping itching I find and is safe for use down below.

VulvaPerson · 02/12/2020 23:46

Eurax appears to be helping, not as bad today. And yeah, on the hairy bit!

Managed to find a place to get tested anyway, just incase. Is it usual for them to say you won't get results for 7-10 days?! I remember going with a friend when much younger and results were given on the day (though I think one of them had to be waited for, not sure which)

Still no discolouration or anything, I spent a very informative half an hour shining my phone camera inbetween my legs..nothing looks amiss.

Attempting to see GP (or maybe nurse? might be easier) again tomorrow. But not holding breath tbh. Wondering if its even worth trying to see them anymore, as the self medication chice is working. Mind, even if itching stops I guess there could be something wrong still.

Mine always flares when hot or wear running leggings or jeggings. Sometimes around period time too

Hmm I have been pretty much living in leggings since the first lockdown.

Am quite lucky, my implant means I no longer get periods, my poor sister tried the implant to mimic this, and it made her bleed continually instead of stopping them :(

Not to be alarmist, but as a consideration, I had a tiny weeny sore itchy spot, was vulval Cancer, age 40. Fine now!! But please so get a gynae consultant referral xx

San pro and liners too. I use the natural cotton based ones and change them regularly
Palavah · 03/12/2020 00:05

your vulva isn't a 'dodgy' place.

other ideas in addition to above:
pants/ trousers too tight? (mine rub more post-lockdown weight :()
trim fingernails - are you wearing nail polish?
changed toilet paper or shower gel recently?

MrsMoastyToasty · 03/12/2020 00:39

Are you using scented pantyliners? For they are the work of the devil and thou shalt itch mightily.

VulvaPerson · 03/12/2020 01:40

No nail varnish, no changes of shower gel/washing powder or anything. Already wear cotton pants, and use no panty liners/pads at all.

Dodgy was probably bad wording. Was more along the lines of..concerning. Like, if I had this on my shoulder of something, I wouldn't be quite so concerned.

As I said, will try yet again for doctors tomorrow. Actually half considering making up a problem that the receptionist might find more 'serious' and actually let me speak to someone beyond her. Then explaining when I speak to someone actually trained. Don't want to piss them off though, but the situation is ridiculous with our GP. When it seems the only way to get worries checked (or even spoken about) is to lie to get around the receptionist, theres something drastically wrong somewhere.

Whereabouts if you don't mind me asking? I know obviously the vulva but can you be more specific? Also what did your itchy spot look like?
Tanfastic · 03/12/2020 13:28

I do wonder if there is nothing at all to see that they'll just give you some cream tbh. If there was a lesion of some description along with itching then that may warrant a referral but I might be wrong. I just know if I turned up at my go surgery with an intimate itch but nothing there to see they'd just prescribe a cream and send me on my way.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 03/12/2020 15:17

Get some Eurax or Lanacane cream - you can get them off the shelf in Boots.
They were a godsend when I had an itch in a delicate area that was driving me mad.

VulvaPerson · 03/12/2020 15:32

Itch has completely gone now on second day of the eurax stuff. Receptionist still denied me an appointment and I didnt dare lie. Will probably leave it for now tbh, but keep an eye for any changes. I mean, its never even gone a bit red or anything, so..fuck knows what it was but it seems solved (for now). Thanks for the advice..I had never even heard of that before and oddly, chemist never recommended it until I brought it up after seeing it on here.
