B12 level is 216 - what does this mean?

Mother, my grandmother, her sister, their mother, her father - all diagnosed with B12 defficiency or had symptoms matching - and some on injections .

DM in particular has pernicious anaemia, something called macrocytic anaemia and some sort of problem with funny shaped RBCs .

I’m 29, started having episodes of dizziness, vertigo, tinnitus, palpitations, brain fog, forgetful, some SOB and overwhelming fatigue . Mouth full of ulcers .

GP rang last week and said, B12 ‘normal’ but only just and said not to be surprised if I start jabs after Christmas .

Is 216 low enough to cause symptoms? Said normal range is 200-700 .

My results on the lab report said “normal but consider treatment if symptomatic”.
As I was dizzy, tired, forgetful and had palpitations and pins and needles the Dr agreed to start injections.

It’s pretty bad if your Dr is waiting for you to become lower than normal range before considering doing anything. Do you know if you had intrinsic factors blood test? This would tell you if it’s P.A or possibly diet related.
If your Dr won’t start injections then get some high strength B12, don’t wait until you feel worse. This was recommended on another thread

Did the Dr also do thyroid, vitamin D & ferritin blood tests do you know?
I hope you feel better soon Flowers

Mine were 150. Doc said it was normal to lowish and put me on a b12 rich diet for three months. Now I'm on injections.
I was shattered, slightly breathless with numb and tingly hands and feet. Also had brain fog.

I’d be asking for your thyroid to be checked.

I have pernicious anaemia and my first blood test came in at 106.

The NHS reference range is woefully low - it would be considered deficient in lots of countries. I was 89 or so when I was tested.

I would definitely supplement - I self inject because the NHS regime is completely useless.
