What's the longest you have been awake?

Just a random musing. Did you have any crazy symptoms?

I think the longest for me was 4 days and I had mild hallucinations, if I looked at my door handle it appeared to be turning slightly.

When I had my first child I was awake for 3 days because she was taken to scbu, it got to the point I felt I just couldn't sleep, I begged for a sleeping tablet.

I've done almost 72 hours, family crisis combined with needing to work. I don't know if I had crazy symptoms, most of it is a blur to be honest, I know I was confused quite easily and like you said, mild hallucinations like things moving rather than seeing stuff that's not there, I had the shakes, though that was probably more down to the coffee! And I've not felt hunger like it! Craving for sweet and sugary stuff and so, so hungry. I have worked permanent nights for years and I'm no stranger to sleep deprivation and the hunger associated with long hours awake.
I found I couldn't sleep when everything settled down at first, I was past it, but when I did it was similar to how you go when you're anaesthetised, just bang, out and for almost 20 hours, I really ached when I woke up, and felt ill for a couple of days too.

When my first child was born I was admitted to hospital at 5pm on the Monday to be induced. Had the pessary around 6pm and contractions started about an hour later. Baby wasn't born until early on Wednesday morning, so had been awake for 42 hours by then. Then she was screaming with hunger for days because I was trying to breastfeed but it wasn't working. I was in hospital for a week after the birth and suppose I must have had a few minutes sleep here and there over the next few days but it was no more than five minutes here and there. It was one of the worst experiences of my life. I was confused, scared, crying constantly and I just didn't want to go on. I also developed very significant post natal mental health problems.

I stayed up for 3 days writing my dissertation. I don't recommend it!
