Just wondered if anyone else on here has Epilepsy ? There’s lots of covid chats but thought I’d make a thread for those of us with epilepsy / other neurological conditions for a place to chat or ask questions .

Arse. Relative is epileptic. Thanks for the info. Will read properly sometime tomorrow afternoon when I have woken up.

Oh, well I might have to stop arguing that my (well-controlled by medication) epilepsy is not relevant to COVID then. I work in a hospital so we were offered a risk assessment regarding working in areas with high exposure to COVID. I don't currently work in a high risk area but there is the daily possibility of being moved to one. I declined the risk assessment, telling my manager that I didn't think my underlying medical condition would be a risk factor in the likelihood of catching it or becoming more severely unwell if I do. Thank you for passing on the information.

Very interesting! A friend/former colleague is a nurse in the U.K. and lives with epilepsy. Well controlled but has gone into status in the past. She was told to work with patients recieving CPAP (aerosol generating procedures) as she’s otherwise young and fit! Regardless of the fact she has a low seizure threshold thus is likely to seize- and potentially go into status- if she becomes ill. Unbelievable.
I think this is good news for all living with epilepsy who have felt undermined or paranoid when raising their concerns. Obviously sad that the increased risk is there to publish this piece of research.
