Snoring

Hi I know there are some historic threads on the subject of snoring but wondered if there were any new products or advice available.

I have been with my partner since last August. Who is lovely in every other way apart from the fact he is a very noisy sleeper and snores heavily most night. he has a history of sleep apnea. He has recently sold his cottage and moved into my rented house and we are in the process of buying a house together. The problem is that he snores so badly I rarely get a good nights sleep and usually give up and move to the spare room.

He has made some effort using a humidifier and nose strips but they don't really make much difference. He's put on weight during lockdown and regularly drinks alcohol is definitely worse when he drinks. Lying on his side makes no difference. If I wake him to tell him he's snoring he just grunts and goes straight back to sleep and I lie there wide awake having palpitations!

I am shattered and usually end up going into the spare room to go back to sleep.

He says says once we've move he'd start exercising again - as he's aware he's put on weight, but in the meantime there's no chance of any sleep in a shared bed as he pretty much drinks (at least one glass of wine) every night.

Any suggestions?

I've found losing weight has reduced my snoring by a lot. Severity and incidence.

I used to have this problem before my partner lost weight. I found these and they were life savers: www.snorestore.co.uk/acatalog/silicone-earplugs.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIzZCv5byq7QIVie_tCh1KbARREAAYBCAAEgKQ0fD_BwE

Boots & Amazon also sell similar. SnoreStore may also be worth a look generally. Also get to sleep first if you can!

Thanks so much. I forgot to mention - I already use silicon earplugs and can still hear him through the earplugs - he is so loud! in fact I can hear him in the next room snoring through two walls! He is hard of hearing himself although I am still surprised he does not wake himself up. Yes, I think losing weight is going to be key.
