Question to those who work in tourist attractions...

Bit of a random question I know.

A friend who works in an English Heritage attraction said they would quite often, in pre-Covid times, receive calls asking "have you seen this person" with a description.

I was a bit surprised by this as I thought most people would probably not fear the worst unless someone was uncontactable for several hours. So, if you work in a tourist attraction or used to, how common is it?

Do you mean from members of the public, who might have become separated from a family member or friend, whilst at the attraction ?

Or do you mean from the Police, looking for someone ?

Or a friend / family member looking for a lost one - perhaps a parents with dementia who has absconded from home ?

I mean the first one really, but the second and third one I suppose could come under it. I hadn't really thought about the police one.

What kind of tourist spot does she work at? Is it also a popular location for doggers?

Grin A respectable stately home type place.

Trigger warning
Well not a tourist attraction itself but a seaside restaurant/bar in a touristy place, which sadly has seen a lot of suicides over the years too.
Used to get people doing the rounds with posters and follow up phonecalls as well. Really felt for the people looking.

Did once working in a hotel, get a rather irate woman looking for her husband, I of course couldn't confirm or deny, but his distinctive car gave him away as I'm sure the charge to his card did.
She waited for him in the car park.
Wasn't pretty. 😟

Is it near Hampstead Heath?

I work for English Heritage and no I don't recall ever receiving a call like that.

Obviously during events we get people asking if we've seen someone they've been separated from now and again but that'd be the same with a big event anywhere I would imagine.

I used to work somewhere like your friend and we had a few calls like that, usually the police. One was about an elderly lady with dementia who was very vulnerable.
