Nespresso subscription worth it?

I really want to get my husband a nice coffee machine for Christmas.

I can get the machine I want to buy for £1 with a 24 month nespresso subscription which is £55 per month. £250 get-out fee if leaving before 2 years is up. On its own the machine would be around £400 but then I would also need to buy the pods.

Has anyone got a similar subscription and is it worth it?

If you think you are going to drink £55 of nespressos a month it is worth it becuase the subscription gives you 10% free top up. I think it is about 5 coffees a day. I have the £22 subscription which gives me 2 to 3 a day.

I got my machine on a great offer from Currys and far cheaper than Nespresso's subscription price. I just searched around for the machine I wanted and a price I was happy with and then factored in cash back sites like Quidco too.

Will your husband think a Nespresso is a great coffee machine? People can be coffee snobs about different machines.

Seems crazily expensive.

I’ve just bought a bean to cup machine for £575 (there are cheaper and more expensive ones available, mine is mid range). Having upgraded from a pod machine. The coffee is infinitely better, there’s less waste and the cost per cup is much lower than our pod machine. The pod machine did a decent job for the 7 or 8 years we had it but it was less than £100 to buy. There’s no way I’d spend £300+ on a pod machine.
