Does anyone else have pesky chin spots that just won't budge?! (Photo)

Sorry not the most exciting post in the world but...

I cant get rid of my stupid chin spots! Lots of little ones with the occasional big one right in the middle they usually coincide with my monthly cycle but over the last few months just as they are clearing . boom they are back again?!

Is anyone else having this problem?

Not sure if its wearing a mask (2 or 3 times a week usually for up to 4 hours at a time maximum) , hormonal or introduction of vitamin C serum into my regime, although the latter has just been introduced so maybe not that!

Any tips are or course welcomed Grin

Sorry about my photo hope it hasn't put you off your evening meal/glass of vino.. 😜.. that chin wrinkle has only popped up this lock down.. what the h !!!!

I'm a skin therapist. I hear a lot of people saying that masks cause this. Has it only started since you were wearing masks? What is your existing skin routine like?

TheSmilingBeaver · 28/11/2020 20:46

@SugarbabyMilly oh thats fantastic, thank you for replying!

I've always had hormonal spots on my chin usually that pop up a few days before my period but they are never usually this bad to be honest! They arent really clearing, its frustrating. That chin line is new, perhaps my age although I am only 30.

I cleanse every evening with an oil cleanser and sometimes a second cleanse with the cerave hydrating cleanser and as I'm slowly building up on new products I tend to alternate each evening with ONE of the following products- vitamin c (paulas choice), retinol (LRP 0.2%), BHA 2% (paulas choice) usually followed by a moisturiser! I usually have a day or two break where I don't do anything other than cleanse. Not sure if relevant but I wear spf every day!

@LittleOverwhelmed I was wondering where your post was going when you asked if I was dressed at the moment and realised shortly after the typo 🤣 made me smile.

I am really sorry to hear about your mother, it must have been awful and I am not surprised your body has felt the sheer impact of the devastation you went through. Tbh I am not overly stressed at the moment so don't think it is that!

Hi, I don’t think you need to be using retinol at 30, particularly since your skin doesn’t look as if it’s ageing.

I would recommend a really good cleanser - maybe Katherine Daniels and also try Dermalogica’ ‘Rapid reveal peel’ which is a deep exfoliation system that gets good results and could help to clear your skin.

BoudiccaD · 28/11/2020 21:45

Maybe you are using too much product. Try those magic face cloths that cleanse with only water and use one moisturiser (and spf of course).

Anon778833 · 28/11/2020 21:57

The problem is, that with lockdowns most of us don't have time for the facials that we are used to.

Pinkyandthebrainz · 28/11/2020 22:02

Acnecide from Boots got rid of my acne. Niacinamide from The Ordinary under my moisturiser also helped.

Anon778833 · 28/11/2020 22:05

I agree re: niacinimide.

TenCornMaidens · 28/11/2020 22:09

I use all sorts of technical skincare but getting Differin from the GP sorted me out, as well as avoiding AHAs.

Hi OP, I’m really prone to chin spots like that! I used to have them constantly but then I started putting Savlon all over them. Once in the morning after I’ve cleansed, once at night before bed. I’ve barely had them at all this year and when they do crop up the Savlon really helps.

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 29/11/2020 01:06

I use benzoyl peroxide 2.5% (low strength - eBay!) on mine or savlon. Or toothpaste overnight if I'm really in a pinch and have nothing else to hand!

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 29/11/2020 01:07

Think I've heard of people using sudocrem too. I've bought a tiny handbag sized one to test!
