Are there any foods that you've learned to love?

It took me over 30 years to eat mayonnaise and now I love it. I used to hate pesto and now I can't get enough. There are a few foods that I want to learn to enjoy including raw tomatoes and dark chocolate(in bar form. (I'm ok with things like peppermint creams but not straight dark chocolate.) but so far I'm not having any luck.

Which foods have you learned to appreciate in adulthood?

Sushi for me. I hated the idea of it and couldn't understand DH's love for it. I can't get enough of it now!

Raw tomatoes. I loathed them until around 6 months ago. I've learned to love them.

Courgettes.
Mushrooms.
Prawns.

I didn't like the texture when I was little. Now, the slimier the mushroom, the better!

Coffee
Kidney beans

Avocado, first time I tried it, back in the early 80s I thought it tasted like soap

Swede I will now eat, though I don’t love it

Mince pies!

Butterbeans..I hated the fuckers. I'm following Weight Watchers and they have zero points so I have them instead of potatoes as long as they are mashed really smooth with an electric masher(best thing ever) just add a bit of boiling water, salt and black pepper.

No, I like most things and haven't developed a taste for anything in adulthood that I didn't like before, but there are a few exceptions that I won't ever change my mind about.

I would like to be able to eat fish and seafood because I know it'd be good for me, but I simply can't do it. I can't bear the smell, look, taste or texture so I'm a lost cause there. I can't do offal either. Just no.

I love blue cheese. I would not touch it when i was younger, similarly so - olives.

i have never been able to eat mushrooms but can tolerate button ones in a stew. Cannot eat egg white - I would be sick, if it was in my mouth and can't drink cold milk in any form so milkshakes are out for me although I like cream.

Cheese. I wouldn't touch it at all til I was in my late 20s but now I like most types.
Also yoghurt and pizza, both of which I discovered at University.

MrsAvocet · 29/11/2020 03:53

Uncooked cheese I should have said - obviously I'd had it on pizza sooner, but I still wouldn't eat cheese on buscuits etc for years. Which is strange, as my Mum and Dad ate lots of different cheeses so its not like I was never offered it.
