Good (bad) film help needed.

It all started with Footloose....

DH and I have 4 adult DCs.
When our eldest 2 DCs left home trying to get everyone together at Christmas, including partners, was impossible. All that pre Covid.

Instead we all agreed that we would rent a villa for a week every summer and get all the DCs, spouses, partners DGCs etc together then.

Christmas is spent with me & DH watching films in our jammies, drinking, eating and usually having a curry or similar for lunch. It is bliss.

Me & DH have become competitive about finding the worst/best film we can we watch good films too e.g. The Godfather trilogy those types but every day over the festive period we watch at least one good/bad film.

It's got a bit competitive. Last year I won Christmas by choosing Can't Stop The Music https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=wqeQWYwVFo0

We've made our way through lots of films but all suggestions please for good or bad or so-good-they're-bad films to make our Christmas 🎄

70s, 80s, 90s, 00s we don't mind. It doesn't have to be Christmassy I think we've seen them all! The only stipulation is that it has to be light.

Thank you Grin

Attack of the killer donuts.

Terrordactyl.

Any shark film ever made (sharknado, zombie shark, sand shark, double headed shark, shark exorcist etc)

All amazingly bad

Voices is also pretty weird.

DD and I watched 'The Room' by Tommy Wiseau (not to be confused with 'Room', the film about the kidnapped woman). The film has a cult status because of how bad it is.

We thought it was the biggest pile of shit, yet unintentionally very very funny due to piss poor acting (if you can call it that) and total lack of plot.

James Franco played Tommy Wiseau in a recent film called 'The Disaster Artist', about the making of 'The Room', that WAS good😂

(I won't be so cruel to point you towards even worse 'actor and director' Neil Breen, although you can find a couple of his films on Amazon. He's self made and funded movies that made 'The Room' look Oscar worthy🤣)

If you want to 'win' deffo look into these!

Unfortunately Grinwe've done all of the Sharknados, Killer Beavers and The Room the room has an interesting backstory.

Xanadu is a good call. We haven't revisited that yet (did you see what I did there?)

Shh nitgel don't tell anyone but there's a special place in my DVD cupboard for You Can't Stop The Music.

We've done all of the Police Academy, Airplane and Naked Gun a few years back, sadly.

There will be some serious films in there too but those are relatively easy to choose.

Anything along those lines is a possible winner. We're having a Muppets marathon this year, with Christmas Carol of course.

I've just realised that Desperately Seeking Susan hasn't been done yet either so that's a must see.

Anyone get anything else, please?

Tremors is quite bad but might be so bad it's good. Plus Kevin Bacon is very easy on the eye in it.

Mannequin?

IdblowJonSnow · 29/11/2020 01:50

Grease 2 is pretty bad, I love it!!

tectonicplates · 29/11/2020 01:51

Eurotrip is one of those films that's better than the trailers would appear. Surprisingly amusing, and very cheesy and cringy, but in a good way.

If you want to watch a bad film that's just bad, I can confirm that The Day After Tomorrow is the worst film ever made. Not even so bad that it's good, but actually just really bad and rubbish.

tectonicplates · 29/11/2020 01:54

Sorry, I just realised you said it has to be light. So don't watch The Day After Tomorrow. But do watch Eurotrip as it's very silly.

MrsMoastyToasty · 29/11/2020 01:57

Weekend at Bernies. Its so rubbish that i can't watch it but it's my DH favourite.

NotFestiveFilms · 29/11/2020 17:40

Thank you everyone.

Grease 2 is a great idea but having lived with DDs for decades we've seen Grease 1 & 2 so.many.times 😂

tectonicplates we've seen The Day After Tomorrow we don't behave like idiots all the time Grin You'd wet yourself if I told you what our day jobs are 😁 Eurotrip could be a strong contender, thank you 👍🏻

Sparklingbrook Mannequin is an excellent call, I haven't seen that or Tremors for years.

I'll take a look at Weekend At Bernies MrsMoastyToasty thank you.

Please keep 'em coming. I'm determined to win this Christmas 🎄
