I think my child might have a tic, not sure what to do next

I have a 5 yo and over the last few months I have been noticing some unusual eye movements. She has been looking upwards to the right and moving her eyes round in circles. I thought nothing much of it, reckoned she just liked the pattern the lights made, but today I noticed her doing it more, and questioned her. She said she didn't know what I was talking about, and couldnt do it on request.

I have looked on YouTube and I can't find anything exactly like it. I am not sure what to do next. I suppose I will try and get a video of it and make a gp appointment?

GP or opticians perhaps

My son did this but by squinting and blinking constantly! Highly annoying but we had his eyes tested and also saw the doctor as he has anxiety around change and they think that's what caused it. There is nothing the doctors can do but let it run its course. May be weeks may be months but it will pass. X

She is having an issue with a boy in her class, which I think is making her quite anxious. I wonder if it is linked?

Definitely could be a trigger yes. My sons was starting school and then each year change it would come back either the eye one or a throat clearing one. X

Tics are really normal in kids and there isn't any treatment. Lots of adults have them too. Most kids grow out of them. Just try to ignore it. The GP won't do anything. Yes always worth ruling out an eye problem or something else. My children have tics, most have stopped as they have got older. It can be linked with various conditions but it can just happen anyway. I did a lot of research at the time and basically found out there is nothing you can do except ignore them (the tics, not the children!).

My son used to blink a lot when he was around 4/5. It was quite constant but doesn't do it now. My nephew was also the same.

Thanks all that's really reassuring. Now just need the school to tackle the little shit who has been making her miserable

Is she "with it" when she's doing it? Doesn't stop talking or what she's doing?
