Isolation grant

Has anyone applied for this? I meet all the criteria but to apply you need a reference number from test and trace. I don't have one because I'm isolating with Dd as there was a case in her class. I'm a single parent and have lost income this week.
Does anyone know how I can get the reference number or have any suggestions? TIA

I dont think you do qualify as you haven't personally been told to isolate by test and trace as its your child thats isolating.

dementedpixie · 28/11/2020 10:38

As, strictly speaking you dont need to isolate along with your child then I dont think you qualify

Isolation grant
papaelf · 28/11/2020 10:39

I meet all the criteria

You don't.

userxx · 28/11/2020 10:42

You're not eligible.

PurpleDaisies · 28/11/2020 10:44

I don’t think you qualify, sorry.

Technically, you don’t need to isolate. I appreciate that effectively you do to look after your daughter.

WhosThatGirl89 · 28/11/2020 11:12

But surely as I've lost income because I'm the only one able to look after Dd then I should qualify

But you or your daughter haven't tested positive.

WhosThatGirl89 · 28/11/2020 11:17

You don't have to have tested positive. It's if you've been told to isolate by test and trace. I just wondered if there was a way to find out what to do if you've been told to isolate by school

No. The criteria are set out clearly. You have not been told to isolate. You do not qualify.

In a world of 'but surely' then I don't do agree that the situation is shit and people will suffer for this, but there isn't much you can do.

papaelf · 28/11/2020 11:18

You haven't been told to isolate

PandemicPalava · 28/11/2020 11:19

Schools are under public health England so being asked by them is the same as being asked by test and trace... however it's your daughter not you. I don't think this is right though, so many people will lose income looking after children or even lose their jobs. You should qualify, this is so wrong

paganbilly · 28/11/2020 11:19

I was told to isolate by work but I can't get it either. Few people can 😡

WhosThatGirl89 · 28/11/2020 11:21

Ffs! What's the point then? Thanks everyone. Seriously fed up with it all now

I had covid, so had to isolate, as did my partner...both of us applied separately and neither qualified for it!

It makes the government look benevolent

If you look at the screenshot posted upthread you will see the point. It's to help low income working families who will suffer financial hardship as a result of being told to isolate. The point is good but it should have been extended to help people in your situation too.

Loobieloo27 · 28/11/2020 11:30

Myself and husband both qualified but both got refused, my husband got ssp I got nothing as 0 hour contract, both positive cases, no idea what criteria they're working from and not able to appeal.

PurpleDaisies · 28/11/2020 11:30

People who have been advised to isolate via the app also don’t qualify.

It’s rubbish op.

Sorry this has happened just before Christmas. Flowers

papaelf · 28/11/2020 11:33

Why are people who qualify being refused? What does the decision letter say?

justleavemebe · 28/11/2020 11:35

I got it because I tested positive, you need the nhs test and trace email to qualify.

Loobieloo27 · 28/11/2020 11:58

Myself and my husband have a joint UC claim, I'm a nhs worker on a bank contract, ie no sick pay, husband delivery driver 8 hour contract got sick pay. Both had codes from test and trace. My husband got refused because sick pay of £95 and I got refused because i haven't lost income Hmm.

I had to go back after my 10 days even though energy levels in my boots, couldn't afford to stay off any longer

I earn less than £500 a month. I have been told by PHE to isolate for two weeks and have lost the regular overtime that my employer needs me to do which is £200, I am not entitled to the isolation grant because I am still gettng my regular pay.

Losing your overtime is crap but I vent say I disagree with the decision here. You are still getting your regular pay. Your issue here is that your employer has you on a low contract but gives you overtime to benefit them.

The problem is that its your child thats been told to isolate, not you

If it had been you that had to isolate then you would have qualified.

Its a shit situation as its not as if you could use childcare for an isolating child

WhosThatGirl89 · 28/11/2020 12:11

I'm just so frustrated. I can't pay my bills on Monday because my pay was £150 less than I was expecting. My boss is pretty crap with communicating and didn't tell me whether I could use holiday for this week, which I asked for. I don't do overtime because it messes with my tax credits. You would think a scheme like this would consider lone parents and children being off school.
