If you hate exercise how do you keep trim?

I worked out religiously before I got married, I took up boxing too. I enjoyed the boxing and kept it up but I now have a shoulder injury so can't do that at the moment.

I loathe the gym, the sound of machines the huffing and puffing, the smell, it's always cold and the music is always crap and very loud. Even my noise cancelling headphones have failed on occasion.

The best part about a run is when it's over..so if you really don't enjoy exercise how do you keep trim?

I do enjoy a walk, not a hike, no hiking up massive hills for hours 🥱 but a lovely walk in the woods is fine.

I'm not lazy, I just don't like traditional exercise, I'd love to find something I can enjoy that will keep me fit healthy and trim.

I am always just a little bit below center of the normal BMI range. I do not hate exercise, and used to go the gym many many years ago, but have a back problem that flares up from time to time.

However I'm not toned and certainly belly flab/muffin! I am not naturally thin (I think!)

  • I always walk a few miles EVERY day. I never skip it. That might be walking around the house, walking with the dogs, shopping and so on. I'll do that every day of the year. I think that helps.
  • However, the big thing for me is not snacking. I just don't eat chocolate, crisps, cake EVER. It's a habit I have. My DSis does about the same exercise as me, but snacks a lot you can see the result. Another close friend exercises more than I do, but I snacks a lot.

So exercise helps, but not snacking is the difference me me. I'd be interested to get back to running, or gym, but that is not going to happen :(
