Buying an unbranded laptop

Hi, I'm trying to buy a new laptop on a budget and wondered if anyone could help me out. I've seen something that meets the specs I'm looking for at a price I can afford, but its an unbranded refurbished laptop. I've checked out the seller and they seem legit, they're a proper company who have been around about 25 years and have good reviews. But I feel anxious, I've never bought a refurbished laptop before and have no idea if an unbranded one is OK to go for. Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks 🙂

Says it is a Clevo. Google them and see what the reviews are.
A surprising number of 'name brand' laptops are not actually made by those forms at all.
IBM laptops were made by Lenovo.

forms = firms. Oh for and Edit button!

It’s only got 8bg ram!!!

I feel like you can get a new, higher spec one for less than that! I think you'd struggle with the memory on that- it's tiny!

What do you need it for? I have a Chromebook that cost me £200 and it's aces. :) I use it for general internet stuff, typing assignments, streaming video and it does all very well.

CalliopeCat, the machine you've linked only has 4GB RAM.

I've just got a new work machine, and to get 16GB Ram was properly expensive (more than twice the machine OP linked). I need it, but you may not. Looking at Dell's 'black Friday' deals, I'd still be paying £1000+ for that much Ram, which may well be outside OP's budget.

8GB is fine for word processing, internet etc, many lower end ones have 4GB and they're fine.

That's not particularly cheap for a reconditioned laptop. Have a look at the Lenovo store.

Also I wouldn't buy from Currys. Their aftersales service is terrible.

I bought a reconditioned IPad from these people, IT Trades via Amazon
It arrived looking like new and has been used solidly since.then.
We have had a minor problem which they dealt with incredibly rapidly, virtually by return post.
They are very friendly helpful people and I would not hesitate to use them again. They deal in all sorts, phones, tablets etc. Well worth checking out their website.

It's also a Chromebook which doesn't have all the bloatware like a Windows laptop. It's the newer version of mine which I love and works extremely well.

Also never had a problem with Currys. YMMV 🤷🤷🤷

Thanks everyone, I've taken your advice and gone with a Lenovo instead 🙂.
