Anyone able to suggest nice Xmas games for a 4 year old. Looking for simple fun non-violent games.

A switch is too old for a four year old.

No its not, DD is nearly four and can manage some of the games with a little help. A four year old could be a nearly five year old in which case they'd need even less help and a lot of Switch games involve co-operative elements so families can play together.

Just Dance, Mario Kart, Cooking Mama, Mario Party, and Animal Crossing are all favourites here.

Kirby Star Allies is a lovely game for young children 😊

Sonic olympics, Mario Kart - both simple and family friendly

I would buy Orchard games instead.

Animal Crossing involves reading, DS2 (4yo) isn't yet able to play it on DS1's (8yo) Switch. I do think the Switch is probably more suitable for 6/7 years and up.

My 4 year old likes a bit of 2 player Untitled Goose Game with his dad. It’s a bit tricky but he enjoys waddling about for a while

I love Untitled Goose Game! I had to make DD a goose because of her love for that game.

@AldiAisleofCrap that’s wasn’t the questioned I asked. Thanks for your opinion though.

Maybe a better way to answer would have been there are none then. There are switch games a four year old can play a bit, but they aren’t particularly suitable.

We have bought a family switch and wanted to make sure we have one game that our youngest (4.5 years old) might be able to have a go on.

Thank you for those who made suggestions and comments about what works with their younger children.

Just to add, We have tons of orchard games, puzzles, play dough etc. It was a simple question that didn’t need the added Value judgements from people.

I wasn’t making a value judgment I think you misunderstood. I meant the games are too difficult not that it’s inappropriate for a four year to play on a switch. Just wanted to save you from an expensive mistake.

@AldiAisleofCrap
I can judge what I feel is suitable content wise through looking at the content and common sense media reviews etc. I
Really what I wanted was some suggestions of games based on people’s experiences of what their 4 year old have been able to play and been interested in.

@AldiAisleofCrap sorry I misread how the comment was intended. I jumped on the defensive. Sorry to say I do that way too much. Also assume people mean the worst. Sorry!

I was hoping something like dance games would be useful but they don’t have great reviews. I just know when her older brother plays she will want a turn too.

DS2 is 4.5 and can play Paw Patrol on the family Switch quite happily by himself.

Maybe Mario Kart might work - I can't think of any others. The 4 year old may be happy to watch others play though

Hasn’t seem PawPatrol - thanks I’ll look for that now.

We have a family switch brought for my children as a joint present last year.

Four year old DS is the best in the house at Mario Kart. He also enjoys Minecraft which older DD helps him with.

It is perfectly suitable in moderation and good fun.

Ds is 4 and has completed kirby this week (I may secretly love playing it too)

My four year old is pretty proficient in mario. He plays the mario Wii U which I think is similar to one that's on the switch? He isn't on the switch mind he is condemned to the Wii U as the switch is his big sisters 🤣 mario party and mario kart are also really enjoyed as is just dance.
He also plays lots of board games ,(champion of game of life) and reads and plays with his toys! Lots of judgement on here! Not sure the Wii is doing him any harm.

I maybe should add that she manages to play the simple levels of sonic on the old Super Nintendo we have. So she has played some games so I guess that might help. Anything jump and walk (is the game term side scroll) should be ok so long as there are easy levels.

It’s ok and I hadn’t heard of paw patrol etc either so I was probably wrong anyway. Hope you all enjoy playing on it at Xmas.
