Secret Santa - DS drew the teacher!

Argh! I suppose I can't give her Playmobil can I? I need three gifts, totalling absolute max £12.
Do I go for something for her to use personally? Or something like a mini science experiment to do with the class? Or pens etc that she can use in the classroom?

She's a no nonsense type, around 35 with 2 year old twins.

How old is the class?

Well done stickers, interesting poststick notes, fun coloured pens

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 26/11/2020 12:08

Stationery for the win here. Then she can use it in class.

I like the shop Typo which has some great pens/notepads etc and would fit with your budget

Hesnotlocal · 26/11/2020 12:09

What about a nice note book? I know a few teachers who have been bought them by pupils and use them to write down to do lists etc in school. If you need 3 gifts for the same person you could get a pen to go with it and perhaps some sweets

Class is 9-10 year olds. Yes, three gifts for the teacher. They give one gift a week until the end of term.

That’s a very elaborate secret Santa!

Agree pens, notepads, post its are good. Paperchase have 3 for 2 on lots of their range and some nice festive things such as penguin and Santa ballpoint pens, I’d probably get 3 things from there.

HuntedForest · 26/11/2020 12:21

I know, not only that, but that have to do give the gifts secretly and then in the last week the have to guess who gave them theirs.

That all sounds so awful. Is this private school where pupils are less likely coming from deprived backgrounds?

HuntedForest · 26/11/2020 12:34

No, state school.

Boots and Next do gifts starting at about £4

Lucked · 26/11/2020 12:40

I would get a ponsietta or mini Christmas tree from Lidl or similar, Santa / Christmas pen and chocolates with whatever is left.

Bakeachocolatecaketoday · 26/11/2020 12:42

Lip gloss
Chocolates
Teachers Stamps (you know like "well Done" "Good Work" with ink)
Nice pen
Joke pen
Personalised mug

ScrapThatThen · 26/11/2020 12:44

I would let your son loose in pound land with the cash. More fun.

Lucked · 26/11/2020 12:44

I am going to say it is lucky to draw the teacher- she is not going to cry because she doesn’t like it and wants something else no she is going to gush that she loves it even if it is a piece of tat!

OhioOhioOhio · 26/11/2020 12:46

I'm a teacher. I'd hate the stickers. Can't you get Christmas edible type treats?

OhioOhioOhio · 26/11/2020 12:47

Not the science experiment. That's just giving her a job.

HuntedForest · 26/11/2020 13:11

Can't take him to the shops at the moment. So I'll have to look when I do the weekly shop or order online.

That is a very good point Lucked!

I think it's a bit mean to get her stationery to use in class!

Perhaps get one stationery item and then for other presents go for chocolates and a plant (I hate poinsettias but I think they're only £3 in Tesco at the moment) or bulbs.

OverTheRainbow88 · 26/11/2020 18:05

Chocolates
Candle
Mini bottle of Prosecco

butterpuffed · 26/11/2020 18:09

I'd avoid buying anything work related, it's a bit thoughtless.

Plant, smellies, chocs, ornament

BecomeStronger · 26/11/2020 18:13

Hand cream, plant, chocolate. Go for quality not quantity.

Although is is a horrible idea!

TicTacTwo · 26/11/2020 18:14

I'd be looking for a stationery 3 for 2.

rottiemum88 · 26/11/2020 18:23

Bloody hell, how self centred of the teacher to include herself in the draw. Don't most teachers get gifts from the kids at Christmas anyway?

I'm thinking it's a way of avoiding that, she's diverted the teacher gift money, on the whole, to the children. If she wasn't included, parents would buy her gifts
MadamFlutterby · 26/11/2020 19:02

Personalised stationery from studio (online) - cheap and cheerful but very useful

RiaOverTheRainbow · 27/11/2020 10:40

Does ds have any ideas? Does he know her favourite colour/animal/sweet that you could theme a gift around? It might be more meaningful than a totally generic SS gift that way.
