Worried about low body weight but high dress size

I know everyone's body shape varies but I'm worried that I'm weirdly light for my height and yet still a size 14-16 in most shops. I have a fairly big chest and a fattish tummy.

I'm 5 ft 8 (173cm) and weigh 9 and a half stone / 61kg and charts put me at about size 6. I know it can vary but this seems like a HUGE difference and I'm worried what I'm missing. Could it be osteoporosis??

My numbers are close to OPs. Don't seem at all out of proportion to me. What size 6 chart is OP talking about? I need size 16 tops due to broad shoulders. I'm all rib cage.

Just a thought - are you using your scales on carpet? That makes you weigh a lot less then you do.

I think this is wholly possibly if you’re only carrying your weight on your tummy ans boobs, it would force you up to a fourteen sixteen.

My fathers partner is the same shape, she’s an apple ans needs a 14/16 to accommodate her tummy and chest, but she’s quite slim every where else.

Do you have a wide rib cage?
I taught DM how to do 'boob or bust' to measure bra size thinking 'you're not a 36' but she actually was 36inches under her ribs!

That does seem very light, I am am the same dress size but 3 inches shorter and 2.5 stone heavier! Have you tried a different set of scales?

I wouldn't worry about it. That puts your BMI at the lower end of the healthy weight bracket, so not underweight at all. Size 6 clothes are really only going fit petite people, and at 5 foot 8 you're too tall to be petite.

I'm 5 foot 7 and weigh 9 stone 10, I'm a size 12. Up until recently (thanks lockdown!) I weighed 9 stone 4 for as long as I can remember (except when pregnant obv). I have skinny bones; my wrists and ankle are tiny for my size, so I put it down to that. Not got osteoporosis as far as I'm aware

I'm on the side of your scales are broken. I'm 5'4 and 10st4 and around a 14 with a fairly large bust and belly and pretty low muscle tone.

I'm the opposite, I weigh very heavy for my size, 5.5 / 11 stone / and a comfortable size 10

I avoid the scales!

Something is not adding up and its not osteo. Some women purposefully wear larger clothes because they consider looser fit as their size.
Same as women who squeeze themselves in smaller sizes.
Also if you wear old clothes that use old sizing where a size 14uk is like a 10uk now.

That does seem a little odd. I’m 5’8 and weigh 65kg and wear a size 10 comfortably with the odd size 8 thrown in.

What are your measurements?

I'm over 12 stone at 5'7 and still comfortably a 14.

Scales are on hard floor. They did tally with midwife scales when I was pregnant. They're quite old though so I've ordered new ones in case.
