Ovens with Induction hobs

Does anyone have one? Any good recommendations please?

Also, what's the situation with the pans for these? Confused

I like ours. The rings turn off when you take the pan off the heat which is a good safety feature. They heat up really fast. The pans need to be compatible with induction hobs.

I have a double oven with hob of 3 gas rings and 2 induction rings. We use the induction rings every single day, the big gas ring about 4 times a year, and the other two...twice in my memory (I have a kind a cast iron plate that goes over them to create a flat cooking surface. I think we made Welsh cakes and then drop scones).

Pans need to be induction friendly. I am still using a set of All Clad pans, about 15 yrs old, heavily used. We don't always match pan size to induction ring size and they are skewing a bit, and not sitting quite flat now. The teenagers love induction (as do I) because it's safe and quick, so we all get a bit lazy about pan/ring size.

In short, I hedged my bets getting gas and induction mixed on one hob and wish in retrospect I'd got all induction.

Thank you both.

@semideponent, do you mean you are able to use your non induction pans on the hob?

@FelicityBob - which model do you have?

Little bump here, as I'd really like to get the right oven Smile

just checked, it says schott ceran in the corner... it came with the house and I have never even noticed the logo there! I do clean it, honest Grin oh that’s another point, they are so easy to clean as it’s just a large flat surface

Tamingofthehamster · 25/11/2020 20:38

When I got an induction I found all my saucepans ( bought before induction existed) all worked so you may not need special ones.

FelicityBob · 25/11/2020 20:39

Oh it also says whirlpool at the top

Enough4me · 25/11/2020 20:40

I have a Siemens induction hob, had it for about 10 years. It boils super fast and still sometimes catches me out even now. Originally used Prestige pans, but now a mix of induction safe pans.

Sometimes miss gass, I used to like cooking with a wok (flames up the sides).

MrsFezziwig · 25/11/2020 20:46

Pans have to be made of a decent amount of magnetic metal to work efficiently on induction. You can test them with a handheld magnet to see how successful you’re likely to be.

SecretDancer · 25/11/2020 20:46

I have a Bosch oven and induction hob. I inherited it when we bought the house but I love it. We bought a set of stellar pans which I also love. I'm sure I read you can test your existing pans with a magnet, if they're magnetic they should work on induction (you might want to Google check that!)

The induction hob so responsive and easy to clean, I'd never go back to a gas hob

bloodywhitecat · 25/11/2020 20:46

I love my induction oven, it is very clean and very quick. I now use a stove top kettle as it boils quicker than the old electric one. With my induction top I have the option to 'lock' two rings together so I can use larger pans which can be useful for my griddle pan.

X-post SecretDancer!

We have this www.google.com/search?q=Belling%20Cookcentre%20110EIBLK%20110cm%20&tbm=shop
We originally ordered a range master professional back in March but they said it couldn't be delivered till August. Having already taken out the old cooker we were desperate so we bought this Belling thinking we could replace it later if we didn't like it. We still have it and very happy with it - and saved over £2k!

AlwaysLatte · 25/11/2020 21:01

Recommend these pans. It's worth waiting for a deal though as John Lewis for instance regularly do a 20% discount on them (and they have it now, I just looked for the URL) 😃

Ive got an induction hob and love it. The only problem with mine is that if you want all 4 zones on full at once it wont do it. I think there’s different power strengths available (if that makes sense)

eosmum · 25/11/2020 21:38

I have a belling, I loved the induction hob on it, BUT the induction hob stopped working and it is 600 for just the part to fix it, it’s only a little over 5 years old. There is no way we can afford it so i had to buy a little 2 ring plug in hob. Cant believe it costs nearly the same as a full cooker as just the induction unit.😭😭

EmmaStone · 25/11/2020 21:39

I needed to buy a range oven this year to replace the space left by a removed Aga (if I'd had the choice, I'd have had separate hob and ovens). I'm very, VERY picky, and wanted an induction hob and a pyrolitic self-cleaning oven. The only one I could find that I could afford was this Smeg one: www.johnlewis.com/smeg-ssk92imx8-90cm-electric-range-cooker-a-energy-rating-stainless-steel/p4283055

Actually got mine from ao.com, and is black rather than stainless steel. Very pleased (although if I can eventually change my kitchen round one day, I'll go back to an eye height double oven set up with separate induction hob.

Before I had my first induction hob, I needed to replace my saucepans anyway, and knew I'd be getting an induction hob eventually, so bought induction compatible saucepans.

And these are the pans I bought!

Oldraver · 25/11/2020 21:44

I live my induction job. I have Sainsbury's/Argos pans with silicone lids and they heat immediately, I also use cast iron but they're not so quick

I live that you can do this (pan boiled
over) and it still cooks

BetteTwoShoes · 25/11/2020 21:48

I cannot WAIT to rip the crappy gas hob out of our (relatively) new house and revert to induction (and pyrolytic oven).

They are just fantastic. As controllable as gas, but heat a full pan of water to boiling in a minute or so from cold. Soooo sick of gas taking agggeessssss to boil.

We had an AEG one, but I suspect they’re much of a muchness

Next time I’ll get one where you can join two rings to make a zone

Only draw back is I couldn’t heat a roasting tin on my old induction (ie to make gravy). Big whoop.

passthemustard · 25/11/2020 21:53

I've got a Rangemaster with an induction hob. Two electric fan ovens, a grill and 5 induction rings. Love it.

doodleygirl · 25/11/2020 21:54

I have an AEG induction job and I love it. You can buy pans from almost anywhere now. I have a mix from Asda, John Lewis and TK Max.

Cissyandflora · 25/11/2020 21:56

Mines an induction. It’s Miele. 10 years old now and i love it. You need stainless steel or iron pans. I had a few IKEA pans that I had to give away because they were not magnetic. I treated myself to new pans and a new oven and hob 10 years ago and I’m so happy with it all.

Cissyandflora · 25/11/2020 21:57

And my pans are Fissler but as someone else said, you can buy suitable pans anywhere now.

Peacenquiet2 · 25/11/2020 22:17

Love mine, first time having one when we moved house three years ago, so easy to clean and adjust temperate
