Yes. Just changed everything back. Mortgage company wanted a solicitor’s letter.

Just change it now!

Change it back. I did.

And since then I've also depolled my name. Which is just so stupidly simple.

Print off a simple template, get a friend of sign to say they witnessed you signing it, and send to relevant companies (passport, driving licence)

Start new and improved life free from exs last name

Hurrah.

I've just done mine. Top tip, do your drivers licence first. My bank needed an official id in my new name as well as the deed poll. It was all very straightforward

Don’t even need a deed poll.

You don't need to wait to change your surname. If people want ID just show your birth certificate. You don't need a divorce certificate despite what some companies will try to tell you. You also don't need a deed poll unless you want to change it to something completely different.

you don't need a deed poll to change your name

any bank telling you they need a deed poll is incorrect

a copy if the decree absolute and bobs your uncle

Barclays tried the old deed poll routine and I said lloyds didn't need one and neither do you, they changed it when I asked would it just be easier to close the account and open up a new one in a few weeks time?

I went back to my maiden name straight away, before the divorce. Some places changed it without question, some were awkward so I just did a free deed poll which was ridiculous as it's always your name as its the one you were born with, you just choose to be known by your married name.

My bank (Lloyds) were not even going to accept that despite me having my birth certificate an a letter from my solicitor stating you don't need to proof to use your maiden name again. I had the free printed out deed poll but because it didn't have a red seal they were making noises about not accepting it. I wasn't happy and stood firm that I had everything they needed (and I'd banked with them since I was 17 so all they needed to do was check their records to see that it was my previous name). They did accept it in the end but they were the most difficult about it.

I wasn't very clear in my first post. I meant I changed my name back to madien (divorce certif)

And recently deed polled my last name to another. You don't need deed poll to revert back to madien name.

Op, my son has his father last name and I have a different last name entirely, its not a problem. I dont want to be associated with the ex either, and nobody forgets my son is my son, because our last names being different.

Highly recommend to change your name back, or entirely, whatever suits you. It starts a lovely new chapter.
