Bath or extra large shower?

Just finished an ensuite refurb and now want to remodel the main bathroom. It’s a small space so not enough room for a separate shower/bath.
We’re hoping to stay in this house until we’re ready to downsize for retirement.
Would you remove the bath and replace with a large walk in shower?
We very, very rarely use the bath ourselves.

I would never want to be without a bath. Bath with electric shower over it if there’s not room for both. This is what we have.

Put in the bathroom that you actually want, as you plan to be there a long time. But do be prepared to reinstate the bath when you sell. I wouldn’t want to live in a house without a bath so I’d either reject the house or more likely factor in the cost of a new bathroom, and my offer would reflect that.

Everyone in my extended family and dh’s are bath people, so we’ve just had to put in a bath in our guest en-suite due to the grumbles when they come to stay!

I’ve noticed that on MN there is a lot of anti-bath feeling whenever this question comes up, but in real life most people want a bath. Especially in a four bedroom family house.

I’d never buy a house without a bath.

A 4 bed house will be a family house.

Staying for 10 yrs definately shower then. I've been in my house for 8 years and only now have money to do my bathrooms up. I'll be ripping out the bath and putting in a walk in shower (low trap and large screen panel) in the same place as its the only place it can go.

I hate shower over bath, a few years back as I was getting out of the shower, slipped on the floor and ended up with a hairline fracture in my arm and alot of deep brusies.

I only wish I had money to do mine much earlier.

I find it so strange in the UK that people can't get over doing a tiny bit of work like reinstall a bath.

A nice big walk in shower is much better option than a shower over a bath.

I am surprised that so many people want a bath. I guess I understand if you have young children although, as I said, I know 2 families with young children and they shower them.

Baths are such a waste of water (and time). I am in and out of the shower in 4 minutes or less and that includes washing my hair.

I love baths but if no one in your household does, then you don’t need one.

MissDoLots · 25/11/2020 15:21

Having my bath ripped out as we speak. Shower all the way!

Extra large shower. You can put a bath in when you plan to sell.
