Being a worrier

Is anyone else like this?

I worry about all kinds.

Things that haven't even happened, things that happen, things that probably won't happen.

How do I stop this?

I hate it but I'm always worrying about something or is this just everyone most of the time?

No advice but I'm the same I'm afraid.
I tend to think the worst at every opportunity. I blame my age these days but one of my primary school reports said I was a worrier so I guess you either are or you arnt.

Beaniebeemer · 24/11/2020 18:22

I’m the same. It keeps me awake at night and I totally over think things. I wish o could stop 😔

Therapy, medication, buhbye anxiety! At least that's how it went for me.

Sparklingbrook · 24/11/2020 18:29

I always have been and I am resigned to it now. Catastrophising, worrying, overthinking and continually assuming the worst.

On the plus side, I feel very prepared for every eventuality.

As sparkling said, when it does go wrong at least I'm prepared! With me I think it's age / menopause that's made it worse too.

Medication and a lot of CBT has eased mine. I always know when I'm getting unwell again because I start worrying about random shit.

nancybotwinbloom · 24/11/2020 19:08

I'm relieved I'm not alone but I feel sad others are the same.

I'm generally quite happy but there is this underlying worry going on if I am not occupied.

I do yoga. It has really helped me to let go of things I've been worrying about. I used to worry if I wasn't worrying!!
The breathing exercises I practice with yoga are great if I can feel myself worrying.
Also, mindfulness is similar, there are loads of free apps. It helps to stop the relentless cycle of worrying thoughts.
I was sceptical when I first started yoga, but its worked for me.

I was an obsessive worrier until I started anti depressants, now my worries are much more manageable, it's great. I spent all my time worrying about things.

It’s GAD and it’s hateful. It ruins my life. Medication helps.

Generalised anxiety disorder.

New to antidepressants for anxiety - game changer. I still worry but that's what it is, rather than world ending crises that I'm unable to cope with.

I've suffered for years and just thought it was normal. CBT starts next week and I can't wait. The sheer weight of my own thoughts has lifted and I feel like a new person. I think it creeps up on people before they realise it's a problem.
