Stop gap oven

Please be kind, I am slightly in shock and worried about DD (laying next to me on sofa) so I am trying to distract myself while waiting for GP surgery to open.

DD has just had a seizure in the kitchen and as she dropped to the floor, she has managed to smash the glass oven door in to a thousand pieces Sad I therefore need a new cooker (this was an old cooker so not really worth replacing).

This close to Christmas, having just bought the last of the Christmas presents, plus a new microwave, money is extremely tight (not a begging thread!) I could possibly scrape the money together for another second hand cooker, but I would rather wait a couple of month and save for a decent one. I am therefore thinking of alternatives - I think the hob and grill still work so just need an oven really. We're not huge bakers so something to cook a chicken and roast potatoes would suffice, but I am not sure whether to go for a halogen or something?

Please can anyone advise? Budget of around £100 I think.

See if you can stretch to a microwave/oven combi.

Replacement glass from Espares.

I'd be looking for a replacement for the glass too. I hope your daughter is ok.

Halogen ovens are great, I had one as my main oven for a few years, alongside a big steamer, slow cooker and microwave and there was rarely anything I couldn't make. I'd do eggs in the steamer. However... I would think it would be cheaper to just buy a second hand class replacement as a stop gap? You might even be able to get one for free from somewhere like Freecycle?

Food ninjas are amazing, 11 functions in one. I haven't used my oven since I got one. I think on Black Friday deal you can grab one for about 150 if you could stretch the budget.

Thanks guys, currently sat in A&E following phone call from GP. DD isn’t injured as such, no cuts from the glass but as it was her head that went into the oven door, they’re checking her thoroughly - thanks NHS ❤️

Bonus of sitting waiting is that I’ve rejigged my budget on Monzo so I’ve a little more than I thought, and found a suitable cooker on Argos for around £200 - putting my Christmas money gifts towards it means I can afford that one.

I did look at replacing the glass but current cooker was an original stop gap (50cm in 60cm space) so I figure it’s just given me the incentive to just have a tight month and bite the bullet. Kind of regretting splashing out on a microwave replacement yesterday though, but that was a Black Friday deal so didn’t want to miss out!

I really considered a halogen oven @user68634 but I’m a bit of a technophobe and was worried I wouldn’t be able to use it Blush
