Travel from Heathrow

Basically I live in a city with a small airport and I've never had to go through a big airport.
So I land Heathrow terminal 5. Is it easy to pick up your luggage?

I then need to get a megabus which i understand is in a different terminal. How easy is this to get to the other terminals. I've read of some train that goes round the terminal?

Please help

Super easy. Signs everywhere for everything.

KenAdams · 23/11/2020 15:42

Which terminals are you going between?

Torvean32 · 23/11/2020 15:59

I was originally landing and travelling from 5. My flight outs cancelled.

So I'll be landing in 5 looking to get to megabus which is around terminal 3/4? Do you get some kind of train thing to get there, if so can you get a ticket there. Or do you get a bus that goes round?

Its probably easy but ive only every changed at an airport once in my life and it was a small airport. I dont have age at my excuse....Blush

Travel between 5 & 2/3 in the underground. It's super easy and brings you out just by the central bus station.

Everything is really really well signed.

There is a train and the tube that run between terminal 5 and the other terminals. Journeys between are free.

I can't remember which terminal the bus station is at but I think it's terminal 2....

Either way it's very clear when you get there.

Heathrow is one of the easiest airports I've found for travelling around and transferring. So many signs and people to help you

Go for the underground not the Heathrow express. It's less walking distance.

Torvean32 · 23/11/2020 16:31

Thank you. Im feeling less nervous now.

It’s probably worth getting the Citymapper app. The London section covers Heathrow, and it can even tell you the best part of a train/tube to use. It should help you plan your route, so at least you can have an idea in advance of where you’ll need to go.

It’s super easy, you’ll be fine, it’s heavily signposted and is designed for weary travellers. Their website has some good information and maps in case you want to familiarise yourself with it in advance (scroll to the bottom of this link and it describes the travel between terminal 5 and terminal 3)

Ok.

Quick question. If you land at T5 at 12:20. Theres a megabus at T 2/3 at 13:10. Any chance of making it?

Also random Q any vending machines in terminal 5. No idea whats open in Aberdeen.

Ignore the time question on that. Im not getting an earlier bus that stops everywhere.

Food thing though is there anywhere i can get anything.

We went through T5 in October, lots open - Pret, Starbucks etc. Airside. According to the website there are still places open for takeaway a this landside Cafe Nero is open for takeaway, so you could get a sandwich and drink www.heathrow.com/at-the-airport/restaurants-a-z
