Eufy owners, do I need boundary strips?

Black Friday offers are calling, but I don't know which to go for.

30C has the boundary strips, 15c has higher suction. Given we have carpet in some rooms, I'm thinking higher suction is a useful thing., but what about the boundary strips?

Do you use them, if so what for? Are they a permanent "thou shalt not pass" or could I put them round the Christmas tree, or more likely latest Lego creation I can't be bothered to tidy away before sending thr bot out.

Mine doesn't have boundary strips the only bit of my room it needs them is an area with loose wires- I just wack a scatter cushion on them and eufy doesn't eat them

Lou573 · 23/11/2020 10:51

No, I have the 30c and never use them. Worst thing that happens is he gets a bit tangled up somewhere and you have to rescue him.

EmmaStone · 23/11/2020 10:54

Nah, either he gets into a bit of a tangle and needs rescuing, or we put a barrier up (a cushion!) to stop him going somewhere.

Ohh, unanimous so far, and possibly I'll finally have a use for the draught excluder sausage Smile

I've just ordered my 30c. I was tempted by the boundary strips for the top of the stairs. Hoping I don't regret the lower suction.

TheForkOfDoom · 23/11/2020 11:39

I’ve never used mine. Although I did want them yesterday so I could trap him in one particular area at the bottom of the stairs (which I’d just swept down) to stop him mindlessly wandering off when he got bored, but I couldn’t find the strips anyway.

Lou573 · 23/11/2020 11:43

@Lurchermom you don’t need them for the stairs, he has a sensor to stop him tumbling down.

4Minions2CallMyOwn · 23/11/2020 11:46

We don’t use our strips. Never have. Eufy won’t go down the stairs, we checked and the sensors work Grin

Enjoy, it’s the best purchase you’ll ever make and will change your life!!!

ThePug · 23/11/2020 11:58

No they're pointless - either you have to leave them down all the time or remember to put them out before your scheduled eufy run which is far too much faff. We've got a 15c max and thick pile carpets (and LVT) and it works brilliantly. Get the max versions for best suction.

Lurchermom · 23/11/2020 12:17

Oh I didn't realise! Well that's good! Hoping I haven't made the wrong choice. But it was on offer too so that probably would have swayed me anyway!

Lou573 · 23/11/2020 12:30

Mine gave up after almost a year (30c) but the customer support has been excellent and they’ve replaced it with a refurbished one.

Champagneforeveryone · 23/11/2020 13:13

We have the 30c and have a permanent boundary strip between the kitchen and sitting room. The lip between the rooms is sufficiently high that if he hits it wrong, poor Dog gets stuck with his wheels hopelessly flailing in mid air.

They're helpful for this sort of situation, but I only used them because I had them IYSWIM?

buckeejit · 26/11/2020 16:43

I'm going to order one & am undecided which. Sounds like the cheaper option is fine as it won't fall down the stairs

Dh isn't convinced as we had a robovac about 10 years ago but think the technology has improved a lot
