Does anyone else experience these?

Yes, I have a lot. Normally not serious but they can be so get yourself to an optician tomorrow.

lachy · 22/11/2020 18:33

I've got a fair few. 99% of the time I don't notice them. The optician said they weren't a cause for concern which was reassuring, but always worth checking.

My DS has experienced floaters. He was recently referred by the optometrist. He has very good vision, he was told to ignore them. If it’s a sudden change always get it checked out.

PolarnOPirate · 22/11/2020 18:36

Yes, since I was a child

FatGirlShrinking · 22/11/2020 18:37

As said before, worth getting them checked if you haven't already. If all is good then it's just a matter of trying to forget they're there, the more you think about them the more you notice them.

Sunglasses or tinted lenses make them less easy to see in bright lights.

Splodgetastic · 22/11/2020 18:38

Yes. They are really annoying! You should see an optician (or call the eye hospital if it’s sudden onset / like a web over the eye as it can be a sign of imminent detaching of the retina). Mostly though they are just a bit bothersome.

Annebronte · 22/11/2020 18:39

I have lots. Always have. However, I had a sudden new large one a few years ago and went straight to my optometrist, who sent me to the eye emergency department and I had a partial detachment of the retina that had to be lasered down.

Bookridden · 22/11/2020 18:40

Yes, I get loads and my optician can see some of them! They are harmless but really annoying. They also go sort of funny when I "make" them float through Christmas lights, try it!

RozHuntleysStump · 22/11/2020 19:24

Yes. I hate them with a passion.

AuditAngel · 22/11/2020 20:40

I have a lot, when my optician changed they were concerned, until I told them I had them since i was a child.

Generally I don’t notice them, but they can be annoying.

Londoncatshed · 22/11/2020 20:42

Yes, completely normal unless you get a sudden fall of hundreds.

People often notice them when anxious. They are there most of the time but we tune out to them but anxiety can make you focus on them.

PrincessForADay · 22/11/2020 21:31

I get them regularly

Russiansilver · 22/11/2020 23:01

I've given mine names.

RB68 · 22/11/2020 23:07

Most people have some some people notice them others don't I have quite a few but never notice them really but I had eye surgery as a child and am told its common if you did. If they suddenly appear it should be urgently checked as in a&e as it could be issues with a detached retina which if not treated urgently can mean you loose your sight. But if its something you have always had and nothing has changed less of an issue - but everyone should get eye checked even if they don't wear glasses now as our eye sight changes over time and a number of important conditions can be indicated by eye health

My daughter has started getting troubled by floaters since three weeks now...got her checked at Boots...optometrist said she needs to ignore/get used to them but it is affecting her mentally...how do you all who suffer from this condition cope up.How do you help your child to cope up?I am feeling so heartbroken for her..
