..... ranting to the cashier about it being ridiculous that pet shops being allowed to stay open, for the whole time it took you to unload your trolley full to overflowing of toys and Christmas goodies.... you might like to have a little rethink ...

You can buy pet food in B&M, just saying.

PS Peta at Home is a lot quieter than B&M in lockdown.

Our B&M has fresh bread, cheese, bacon, milk and butter.

nosswith · 22/11/2020 16:34

Ranting to the cashier if the case, not nice for the cashier.

Though it did remind me of the thread of the person who moaned about shops not being open late on a Sunday so she could buy some socks, who then went silent when asked if they ever worked at weekends.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 22/11/2020 16:34

@RosieLemonade

I’m sure we all have different opinions about what should and shouldn’t be open.
But surely no one would think a pet shop is non essential.
Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 22/11/2020 16:36

I do wish someone could tell me why Max Spielman is open ?

romeolovedjulliet · 22/11/2020 16:38

i can't buy food for my small pets in supermarkets so i need a pet shop to be open for them. humans on the other hand can manage without the 15 odd phone shops we have in town here.

XingMing · 22/11/2020 16:46

It wasn't me! I have never been to B&M. But our pet shop is open, and delivers.... so DDog will not starve.

This lockdown is much worse than the first, because it's winter and wet, and apart from Christmas (when we shall hardly glimpse family and friends except on Zoom) there's only January to look forward too. Unless it snows...

SpillingTheTea · 22/11/2020 16:46

FFS I am not 'crying', 'whining' or lacking in balls if I felt strongly enough to say something. I thought it was an interesting observation that some people would find amusing or at least see the irony. I didn't expect some of the nasty responses I've had on her, and I don't think it is warranted.

So you think listening in on someone's conversation then repeating it on the internet would be funny? Oh.

Of course they might. Someone without a pet (and who’s probably just shooting the breeze to the cashier in any case) may well not think beyond “I’m sure you can buy dog and cat food in the supermarket”.

Pipandmum · 22/11/2020 17:06

I get you OP. Frankly as so many 'essential' shops are open I'm not sure why they don't open them all. Shopping malls excepted, most shops I go to had very strict number controls and sanitisers on entry. Now they must be miserable seeing major shops open selling non essentials as they also sell food or medicine and they have to remain shut, missing out on the usual Christmas revenue.

You are bitching and saying she should have a re-think.
Stop being so bloody nosey and mind your own business.

Titterofwit · 22/11/2020 17:28

Oh dear OP. You seem to have fallen foul of the MN snarky gang who see nothing to smile about these days.
I would have found this observation worthy of sharing with friends too. Pity you havent found many of them here.

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 22/11/2020 17:46

@Roselilly36

You were shopping in B&M too OP, everyone is entitled to their opinion and to buy what they consider essential, which is different for us all. This is going to be a long winter.
I was buying essentials unless you would like my daughter not to have sanitary products. Oh and I bought washing up liquid too. But then my post wasn't about this lady buying toys per se, I know better than to go there on MN, more about the irony of her complaining about pet shops being open whilst buying toys.

No, I wasn’t that lady in B&M 🙄
amusedbush · 22/11/2020 18:02

To be honest, I'd rather hear that in B&M than some of the things a woman who works in my local branch comes out with. A few weeks ago she made a racist comment to me (not towards me, she made a racist comment in conversation with me) and seemed most put out that I didn't back her up. The next time she served me she ranted at me about lockdown creating rude, impatience customers and she included the word "fuck" several times.

Your local B&M is welcome to her!

GabsAlot · 22/11/2020 18:04

yeah theres loads of that aboyt

look at all these shops open whilst walking round said shops

joystir59 · 22/11/2020 18:11

I can only get my dogs food at a certain pet shop so I'm very grateful they are open tbh

TheGreatWave · 22/11/2020 18:31

She obviously just doesn't see a pet shop as being more essential than, say, Primark, when her kid needs new clothes or shoes and they fit her budget.

romeolovedjulliet · 22/11/2020 18:34

dd can't get food for her snake in the supermarkets unless they are now selling day old mice, she needs pet shops too.

SquishySquirmy · 22/11/2020 18:43

It was me op.
(I'm also the twat on the a49 a pp referred to, but let's keep that to ourselves eh?)

In my defence I will offer up the context of rant: dogs these days are too fat, cats are too lazy, my neighbour's goldfish is a smug bastard and dont get me started on the bloody rabbits!

The presents I was buying were essential actually because I like to be prepared well in advance. I bought presents for Christmas 2020 last August, and I am already behind schedule for Christmas 2021!

So, you see, I was perfectly justified. Remove the plank from your own eye lest the whole world be blinded, etc etc.

Yours sincerely,
Disgruntled of B&M.

FrangipaniBlue · 22/11/2020 18:53

I've seen a hairdresser ranting on social media about how she can't open her shop but supermarkets are open, it's not faaaaaiirrrrrrrr don't you know???

It took every fibre of restraint not to comment about how nobody ever died from not having a hair cut but you know, starvation?
