If money were no object and you were starting a business, what would it be?

Just daydreaming here!

I have a tiny (micro) business - pre kids I used to sell my artwork, and now I sell templates for others to make their own. Now my boys have started school I’m expanding my range and then starting on crochet and knitting kits.

I would love to set up a proper business but funds won’t allow what I want to do.

My twins are both autistic and we have so many difficulties finding suitable clothes, toys, etc. I would love to set up a business which designs and makes products suitable for children with disabilities but due to safety issues it would be a huge undertaking and very expensive!

I also have an invention idea which is a redesign of a common household item (there are probably hundreds in every home) which would solve common problems with that item. Sometimes I day dream about getting a prototype made and trying to either manufacture it or license it. Maybe one day :)

I’ve also always dreamed of running a craft bar - where you can go and have a glass of wine / beer and learn to do various crafts, have lessons etc. Probably not economically viable though!

Wow, all these businesses sound amazing. I was going to say bookshop buy you’ve all inspired me to think bigger!

NHS medical supplies production.

Ice cream van but for dogs with a little window low down so they can put their paws up and have a fuss when I give them their ice cream.

Mine would be a bookshop and cafe. In a really old building with high ceilings full of sofas to sit, read and drink coffee. Bliss. Oh and very dog freindly.

Another mobile coffee van/cart here. I'd wake up early, get pastries etc ready, sell 07.45-09.45 and then shut up shop for the day.

As it is I'm an ex-lawyer running a food bank. And I mainly drink Nescafe.

If it were legal I would grow weed. Organic and moderate strains. With a nice cafe and customer area.

@Othering can’t give away my secrets 😂 - but it’s a type of fastening. I swear it would work and be awesome. Definitely no plans to redesign bedbugs but would be good if I can make non bitey ones 😬

Honestly I have no idea. I’m terrible for original ideas. If money genuinely wasn’t an issue I’d go looking from embryonic businesses that needed a cash injection. Even better if they had the capacity to make the world a better place.

I think I’d run a little quaint tea room in a popular tourist area.
9-5 hours, not too stressful and surrounded by tea and scones. What’s not too like?!

I would own a small garden centre. It would have lots of grounds/gardens you could wander around. Lots of areas to support wildlife. I would run a free gardening project for children/adolescents, especially encouraging those from disadvantaged backgrounds, and those with mental health difficulties. It would be super cool and fun. We would do open air movie nights in the summer on a big screen in our lovely gardens. There would also be a second hand book shop/book swap. And a small cafe, I would bake all the cakes. In the winter we would sell hot chocolates and let people wander the gardens to collect holly/greenery etc...

We clearly think alike... are you my long lost twin looking for a business partner who likes growing things and wants to open a tree nursery?

A dating agency that specialises in matching people with communication and/or learning disabilities. Dates would all be chaperoned to help bridge the communication gaps and to ensure everyone was safe. People would be vetted and part of the overall package would include coaching on social skills and a class or two on safe sex, behaviour and consent.

It would have to be if I had enough money to start a business that wasn't going to be financially viable as the people who need it wouldn't be able to afford the costs that would be required to make it viable.

Money no object? Biological testing lab, and get in on the covid testing etc. And a PPE bio-secure manufacturing factory next door. Maybe even drug manufacturing.
I'd be well-placed for the next pandemic that way.

During the pandemic I would manufacture PPE, perspex screens and signage though may have missed that particular boat

After the pandemic I would organise people's holidays for them, concierge style. Its something I have always fancied doing but I'm not really sure how to monetise it to reflect the time it takes. People who are too busy or can't be bothered with the slog through a million websites and reviews. I love the research and finding places that really suit us. Often friends have visited places/stayed at hotels that I have chosen for us and really loved them.

I wouldn’t have the first clue where to start - I did look into it a few months ago when I first thought of it, there are businesses that sort everything out for you but obviously costly. Maybe I will look into it again when I have the energy!

If I had the money I would run an animal shelter for cats and dogs.
