Hi,

I'm thinking of getting tickets to watch this, streamed live from the old Vic, just wondering if anyone else has watched any of their shows in this way? Wondering what it's like, tickets are between £20 - £40 just worried my broadband will decide that's the time to pack in!!! Thought it would be lovely though to watch it with the kids Christmas week. Anyone else doing this?? Smile

Thanks

I went to this production last year and it was fabulous.
They gave out mince pies and tangerines to everyone as we took our seats. The theatre had been reattached so that the stage came down into the middle of the stalls seats. There was an element of panto to the production, particularly at the end.

It was a magical, happy evening.

Why is there different prices? Surely everyone will get the best view in the house so to speak.

That sounds wonderful stripey would so love to go to something in the theatre at the minute would be such an nice escape from everything.

Yeah I'm not sure either Rosie I think it works like donations system. My worry with it is it's through Zoom and it sometimes doesn't work for me and it means watching on a laptop whereas I thought if I could get it to work through the tv we could all sit around and watch it and be all christmassyGrin

Who played Scrooge Stripey, in the production you went to?

I went to this last year and it was lovely - so atmospheric with a snowstorm and chains of sausages and pies and cakes and a flying turkey passing through the audience at the end. So I think it might fall a bit flat online with all of that missing, although of course it's good to donate to theatres. Are you in/near London? because the Bridge Theatre has a Christmas Carol that's happening for real - assuming lockdown is lifted.

I've bought tickets to this!

Re the question on pricing, there is no difference between what you get for £20 and £60 - they are just asking people to spend what they would if they had gone to the theatre. On the other hand, they may well have more people watching per performance than would have fitted into the Old Vic, so hopefully it will even out (or hopefully make more money for them).

I just need to figure out how to get zoom on the TV Hmm

I watched Andrew Scott in Three Kings from the Old Vic via Zoom and it was great, no technical glitches. Loved the play, too.

From googling it's seems if you download a screen mirroring app you can get it onto the TV, will have to have a practice run at that to see if it works!! that's good to hear Herbigchance making me a bit more encouraged to book a ticket nowWink I so want to see it
