Pz help us find somewhere to live!!!!

Going around in circles for so long and need to chose a location to live. Looking for a town / outskirts of city maybe, house budget up to £300k, preferably less to start whilst we get settled.

We love beautiful countryside and also beaches so keep ending up looking at small villages with no facilities and no shops! This is exactly what we don't want having had some bad experience living in a small village in the countryside.

Looking for an area with good schools (2 DC under age 10), good high street shops, cafes, restaurants, things to do, good travel links, low crime rates, nice people. We don't want to have to drive for miles to go to the shops!

Thank you!

I know @tigerbear I would love it.

doubledeckersarethebest · 22/11/2020 17:14

Thanks all. @Chipsahoy what areas would you recommend?

How far are relatives from any of these suggestions? I assume you would not want to break off all contact.

Bookridden · 22/11/2020 18:42

Loads of nice places around Bristol.

Mabelface · 22/11/2020 18:45

Look at the Wirral. Countryside, beaches and close to Liverpool.

roarfeckingroarr · 22/11/2020 19:12

What is sickening is that my 2 bed London flat costs twice as much as those gorgeous large 4 bed houses by the sea in the NE.

GiantKitten · 22/11/2020 19:25

These 2 points seem a bit contradictory to me though.
If vendors didn’t know it’s leasehold, how do they know what sort of person the freeholder is?

Oops, wrong thread!

doubledeckersarethebest · 22/11/2020 21:05

Thanks all some gorgeous houses posted m. Lots to look at.

It's really important to also be able to access good high street shops. We really don't want to be isolated or live in a small village.

Morpeth perhaps? Easy to get to Newcastle and not far from the sea. Decent town but still near lots of country parks.

Milomonster · 22/11/2020 21:35

@CormoranStrike omg my jaw hit the floor looking at that. It’s beautiful and my dream life. I cannot believe the price.

doubledeckersarethebest · 22/11/2020 21:57

Wow @CormoranStrike that house is stunning!

@Milomonster and @doubledeckersarethebest fight you for it! Grin

North Liverpool - Waterloo
Close to the beach, easy drive to countryside though there's some good walks close by too, trains to Southport and Liverpool and there are also local high streets with independent shops, cafes, bars etc. The schools are good too.
Crosby is also good but not quite as close to the beach or the trains.

doubledeckersarethebest · 06/12/2020 11:58

Thanks for all your ideas we're taking a look at each of the areas. Does anyone else have any places to add please?

West Kirkby- great beach, easy reach of Liverpool and Chester

Stellashere · 06/12/2020 22:23

Kirby not Kirkby!

Canyoncall · 06/12/2020 22:28

Another vote for Wirral - west Kirby, heswall meols or hoylake or if you want to go further north then look at Tynemouth and Cullercoats

IcanandIwill · 06/12/2020 22:39

Wirral... so much to offer, good schools, beaches, Liverpool and Chester on the doorstep.

MerryInthechelseahotel · 06/12/2020 23:19

St Andrews! I love it there.
