Risk of car journey with 70 year old Dad to and from Doctors appointment

My apologies for cross posting but need an answer quickly as been offered an appointment at short notice. Just wondering what the risk is in the following situation.

Considering going to a non-essential doctors appointment today and getting a lift there and back with my Dad who is 70. Don't expect it to last more than 15 minutes or so and will only have contact with the doctor. If I did pick up Covid could I pass it on to my Dad in the car on the way back (if so what would be the risk level?) or would it not have had enough time to incubate with me? Car takes 20 mins there and 20 mins back.

You should both wear masks and keep the car window open ( Not the air con ) . And you should sit in the back.

Cant you get a lift with someone younger or take the bus ?

If it’s not essential, can’t you have a phone consultation ?

There is always incubation, yes, so you couldn't pass it onto him, apart from if it was fomite transmission but presumably you'd sanitise yr hands on way out of surgery!

If you have the virus there is a very good chance of passing it to your father in this situation. Cars are probably the easiest person- person transmission route unless you are happy to do the entire journey with all the windows open!
