Is Disney + worth it for kids under 5?

Had a quick look and on the face of it it looks like it's more suitable for older kids. Obviously I secretly want it for me....Is it worth it?

My DS (2) makes full use of it by rewatching two films over and over and over and over. We keep trying to branch out to other things but he cycles back to the same two every day. There's enough content on there that I know he'd find other things he'd like so I don't mind paying the full price.

DH and I also use it - he watches Star Wars and Marvel and I'll watch all the old Disney classics plus a few of the documentaries on there.

We got it for DD who was 4 going into lockdown - it was a god send! And also enabled us to get rid of dozens of Disney DVDs making the lounge much tidier! 🤣

We got it as a compromise as we were cancelling sky which was costing us £75 a month

I would say 6 months later she doesn't watch it as much though - they don't update it very often with new content and obviously it's limited to Disney only and with no real new films being made due to covid you are obviously stuck watching the usual animated films for a while

Agree with previous poster though for young children - we wore out several DVDs like moana and frozen and Winnie the Pooh watching them so much when she was around 2 that Disney Channel more than worth it for that

My dd is 2 and loves it all, she's particularly into cars at the moment so has been enjoying all those. She also loves the films with real people in like the secret garden etc. Some of the animal documentaries are also good for calming down time!

Yes there's loads on there for my 3.5 year old

usernotfound0000 · 20/11/2020 10:18

Yep. DD5 loves all the films, DD2 enjoys Mickey Mouse stuff like clubhose and old cartoons plus Doc McStuffin etc.

majesticallyawkward · 20/11/2020 10:22

My DD loves it, we had Disney life for a couple of years before Disney+ which was fab for the live channels and books.

  • has been a godsend in lockdown, she's learned to use the app on the tv and tablet. She's branched out quite a lot too, we've gone from Sofia the first on repeat to having a nice rotation of shows and movies.

My 1 year old likes a couple of shows too, he doesn't 'watch' them but he seems to like bluey or Mickey Mouse clubhouse being on.

Pumpkinstace · 20/11/2020 10:26

My 4 and 7 year old love it. They have the app on their fire for kids tablets.

If you like Disney it's worth it just for the imagineering story documentary.

Just a warning with Disney+ I seem to get a hacking attempt on my account every week. Twice a hacker had managed to get in and start their own profiles on my account. I found it via the app, as several other people had profiles on my account! I don't know why Disney+ is so susceptible to it, but I don't have this problem with any other streaming service.

dontputitinyourmouth · 20/11/2020 10:34

My DS4 loves it, the films are great to watch together particularly some of the older ones like Fox and the Hound then he watches Disney junior stuff on his own like doc mcstuffins and mickeys clubhouse. Well worth it for us

PaddyF0dder · 20/11/2020 10:36

Dear lord yes.

Muppet Babies. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Rocketeer. Disney films.

It’s carried us through the pandemic. Absolutely essential.

Figmentofimagination · 20/11/2020 11:44

Yes. Made it easier to watch Dumbo on repeat when DS was younger. He's 3.5 now and likes to switch between movies, Disney junior cartoons (where the songs get stuck in your head) and animal documentaries.

Figmentofimagination · 20/11/2020 11:45

Forgot to add we also had DisneyLife before Disney+ which is what we used to watch Dumbo on repeat at 4 in the morning.

I'm sold! Thanks everyone
