I am immuno suppressed so always have a very full pantry and freezer. I have attached a list of what I plan to have in for Xmas week ready for no deal Brexit. Should a a deal go through, the food will still get used and I'll be able to save money for 6-8 weeks. I'm about half to 2/3 off the way way to my goal now .

Food shortages are a real worry for me. I'm feeding five adult sized people every day for 2-3 meals and we have 4 dogs, 2, cats , 3 tortoises and 15 guinea pigs. Fresh shortages would mean hungry animals and my kids having to forage in the miserable January weather.

And obviously in that list when I've put

6 sausages, 6 mince etc

that's 6 packs of twelve sausages

6 packs of 750g mince

6x kg chicken breasts.

Purple it's about getting little and often.
The things I've collected are all cheap.
dried beans, tinned tomatoes/passata.

Buy an extra thing a week every week and it will build up.

I realise that's still money that you don't have- but if you possibly can manage something, it will help.

The bigger issue for less well off people, IMO, is storage space. I have a garage and a bigger than usual house. I have places to keep my stash. Many people don't.

@Butterer you're very welcome! Hope I'm not derailing this onto a gardening thread Grin

@HotPatootiebootie, Christ, 15 guinea pigs! I thought I was doing well with 8 Smile

It was genuinely bonkers around here for fruit and veg. I could always get meat and dairy, but fresh, frozen and tinned veg were the first to be completely wiped out.

Same near me - had a good month or so when stuff for salad was few and far between. I've been considering experimenting with growing cucumber and other salads as well, but my previous attempts haven't gone so well.

HotPatootiebootie, thanks for that list Smile
