Alternatives to lots of wooden doors

Posting for traffic as had no response in home decor.

We have an attic bedroom which desperately needs repainting. There are lots of under eaves cupboard doors, half of which don't shut properly. I'm thinking of having them replaced with modern sliding doors instead. If you have sliding wardrobe/cupboard doors how do you find them?

The thought of painting all these sodding doors is really putting me off and a maintenance free option really appeals.

They'll Be expensive made to measure just bear that in mind? You'd probably need to go to a proper bedroom furniture company
You may be better off with some pre finished Louvre doors?

Are the doors cut on angles to accommodate the slope of the ceiling? If so, I wouldn't have thought it possible to have them on sliding tracks as they'd be different heights?

Thanks for the responses. No, the doors are square with no sloping angles, but they're on storage cupboards rather than wardrobes. I appreciate made to measure will be pricier than buying standard sizes off the shelf. I really want something simple and plain rather than louvres.

Does anyone have modern sliding doors? If so, any pros and cons? I'm assuming they are better these days than when I had them in my room as a kid in the 70s, i.e. smoother running, soft closing, etc.

B and Q and homebase sell sliding doors that you don't need to paint but they are full height, not sure what height under the eaves yours go.

You can buy the runners and parts separately if you can find or make the wood in the right size as well

Yes - you can get the components and put sliding doors in. I was really hoping to hear from someone who has them and how they find them.

I have floor to ceiling mirrored sliders all done one side of our bedroom. Plenty of hanging room and shelving behind one. I like them. The mirrors are handy and it makes the room very.ligjt I don't think the cleaner likes them as large area to spray and shine up. You can get shoe racks to go behind them too. I shove a multitude of things in there to keep.bedroom tidy. ATM Xmas gifts.
