Have most of MN got their Xmas decs up?

OP posts:

24th Dec to 6th Jan

CosyQueen · 18/11/2020 19:28

Yes we did them today!
We usually don’t put them up until the first weekend of December - but I just wanted to put them up earlier this year - much to my three year olds delight!

NotYourDawg · 18/11/2020 19:29

I put the fairy lights up for Diwali (not my religion, just jumped on a chance to do something nice)

I have Christmas ornaments that will be replacing my usual ornaments, they will be out at some point in the next week. I have gone totally OTT with ceiling decs, I wanted to recreate the Christmas memories of my 1980s childhood. So I may put them up next week (along with the paper chains DS and I have been making while self isolating this week)

Tree will go up 1st Dec as per.

So many houses have got their decs up around here. It's a bit early but who actually cares what other people do? Unless you're one of those unpleasant sneery types who roam the Mumsnet forum with gay abandon

No, I went for a walk around my neighbourhood after work and there were virtually no xmas decorations on display. I was surprised as I also had the impression that "everyone" was putting them up early this year.
Saying that I am putting some up this weekend, although tree will still be mid December.

Peasbewithyou · 18/11/2020 19:31

No we will wait until December! Although DDs are lobbying for all decs up ASAP! We get a real tree usually around the second weekend in December otherwise it looks awful by New Year!

TheLightGetsIn · 18/11/2020 19:34

No. Ours will go up a few days before Christmas, then down after Epiphany. We will have a few Advent ones up from December 1st, though.

nancybotwinbloom · 18/11/2020 19:34

Yeah up in the loft till 1st December

Chemenger · 18/11/2020 19:35

No, the tree is coming on the 16th of December.

dopenguinsdance · 18/11/2020 19:38

No, they go up the weekend after the DCs' school term ends, usually about December 17th.

CMOTDibbler · 18/11/2020 19:46

No. Not until December 5th

ParkheadParadise · 18/11/2020 19:51

No
Dd's birthday banner and balloons will be up for her birthday in the first week of December.
Christmas decorations don't go up till the middle of December 🎄 🎅

BogRollBOGOF · 18/11/2020 19:51

I've got a string of fairy lights on the fireplace.
I'm going to join the early club and put some white lights up outside. Then add the coloured ones in early Dec.
Tree and main decorations up in mid-December. I want to pace myself and enjoy it.

I had no zest for it last year. We were trying to finish two major decorating jobs ready for Christmas so we could be settled in two new rooms, plus DS1 was rather poorly with a mystery virus for a week so it was a bit of a joyless faff.

MrsTerryPratchett · 18/11/2020 20:05

No but I do keep them up until twelfth night, unlike all the weirdos that take them down Boxing Day.

lucysmam · 18/11/2020 20:06

No, not yet. Might get them down from the loft & steadily put them up from next weekend though.

FireUnderpants · 18/11/2020 20:17

No. Absolutely not until it is December.

Lemonylemony · 18/11/2020 20:21

I would have done, but we’re moving into our new house the week after next. Am thinking of putting outside lights up at the new place ASAP though! Saw a few houses with lights up on the way home tonight. Everything is shit this year, lights cheer people up, so why not.

DariaMorgendorffer · 18/11/2020 20:23

No, and don't know anyone who has.

BearSoFair · 18/11/2020 20:23

No, they'll go up 2 weekends before Christmas, same as we always do!

Viv0321 · 18/11/2020 21:10

Thanks all
