Any top tips for needlephobic DH at flu clinic tomorrow?

DH is not great with needles, to put it mildly.

He's not had the flu vaccination before but has been recommended to have it this year (living with a vulnerable person).

Part of the concern is that we've realised today that flu jabs are being given in a gazebo in the doctors' car park - it looks like you go in one side, roll up your sleeve, get done, walk out the other side as the next person goes in. Appointments are three minutes long.

So he's concerned about what happens if he feels faint - presumably there's no sitting down at any point. He obviously doesn't want to be embarrassed but even more so doesn't want to cause chaos in what is presumably a fairly fast moving clinic.

I think the conveyor belt nature of it might work in his favour as he won't have time to think about it much.

If anyone has some top tips for him to not end up flat on the ground in the car park we'd love to hear them.

Off topic but how is everybody still getting their flu injections? You can only get them if over 65 in my area at the moment due to shortages, none for ECV or CV patients available even!

I'm needle phobic. I had my flu jab yesterday. I just don't look!

The Surgery phoned me a couple of days ago, I explained that I'm so disabled now I'm not easily able to get to the Surgery, but I'll sort something out..
A couple of hrs later my Dr. was at my door.
Nice elderly gent. He's a bell ringer at his local church, he tells me. Likes the art I've got on the walls, etc..
Tiny needle btw, no prob, but Christ! was my arm sore for a couple of days after. Wasn't expecting that!

@Trisolaris "Off topic but how is everybody still getting their flu injections?"

I booked in with Asda pharmacy several weeks ago. £8 each. They did delay the appt by a couple of weeks as they ran out of stock. I guess you have already rung round all the local pharmacies but if not, it's worth a go. DS isn't getting his free school one until December though.

@Trisolaris my mum phoned for an appointment for her, my dad, my gran and my son for their flu jabs and was told the GP would be in touch. Within a day, my DS20 had his clinic booked in. My parents and gran had to wait 2 weeks (all over 65) and then a week later i got a call from the GP with a date even though I hadn't asked for one. There are different jabs for different groups is the explanation I was given, and the one for DS was in stock sooner than the over 65 one. I was expecting not to get one this year because I assumed I would be bottom of the list.

@DownWhichOfLate

He did NOT faint when you had an epidural?! Shock Grin
Grin No, he didn't, but he was worried he might. He said so as the anaesthetist arrived, meaning "I'm going to go over here where I won't see", and the midwife evidently interpreted this as "I am going to pass out" and the next thing we knew he was being bundled out in a wheelchair as they all made soothing noises at him. They kept getting his name wrong which made me irrationally angry and I vividly remember calling out "HIS NAME'S NOT STEVE" as they went.

He was parked in a corridor, completely mortified, and they brought him tea and biscuits. Unbelievable.

Once the epidural was on and working I laughed till I cried.
