Does anyone know if you can get a Private flu jab for kids?

Yes depending on age, boots, asda etc or private surgery, like tavel clinic type places

Viv0321 · 16/11/2020 20:42

Really? I have tried those places and they said no?

Is it because you don’t want the gelatine element of the nasal ?

Justgorgeous · 16/11/2020 20:46

I booked one for my Ds (15) very easily at Tesco. He had it 8 weeks ago.

thewalrus · 16/11/2020 20:49

DD, age 13, had one at our local superdrug. I had to reassure them she'd be ok with the injection (which I knew she would as she's had the HPV vaccine recently) and then they were prepared to do it. Good luck, they do seem hard to find!

Yubaba · 16/11/2020 20:51

The youngest that anyone does them is Superdrug, they do over 9s and Tesco do over 12s.
I very much doubt you will get a flu jab this season. Most pharmacies ran out weeks and weeks ago.

NullcovoidNovember · 16/11/2020 20:51

Op I've been getting both done for about 13 years now.

Before school ones kicked in, I've used private doctors.. Like the ones who do travel vaccinations?.. Then over a certain age, boots, asda, sainsbury...

What age is the child you may need to go to a private doctors.

Viv0321 · 16/11/2020 21:01

It’s due to sensory issues, 8 years old

Got one for my 2 year old last weekend in local travel clinic

I always paid privately for my daughter to have the flu jab since she was 7. She somehow missed the free nhs nasal spray for a year or two. I took her to a private hospital to get vaccinated by a private GP and when she turned 12 I took her to Boots. There are specific larger Boots branches that vaccinate children and you need to ring to make an appointment. The branches that offer this service are listed on the Boots website.

Thank you maraki

There are lots of private GPs around, just google for a private GP in your area.

Viv0321 · 17/11/2020 11:33

I have they won’t accept children though.

Try a local travel clinic. Ours does flu jabs for children for about £30.

helloxhristmas · 17/11/2020 11:39

Private GPs will do them, if they have stock. Mine are still young enough to get it at school, got a letter yesterday to say it will be 17th December which seems rather late.

WankPuffins · 17/11/2020 11:47

@Viv0321 that's very odd they have told you that.

My children have only ever seen private GPs, we aren't even registered with an nhs one!

FippertyGibbett · 17/11/2020 17:30

An IM flu might be being offered to those who said no to the nasal on religious grounds.
