Zork cork won't come off prosecco bottle

I've got a bottle of prosecco in the fridge from Aldi. I've had a shitty week and was looking forward to opening it last night but it's got a zork cork and the stupid thing won't come off.

I've followed the instructions but it'll twist but not come off. I thought I'd just take it back and exchange it today but our local Aldi is being refurbed and I really can't be arsed to drive to the next one.

Anyone ever had this, any bright ideas how I can get the stupid thing open?! I really want my prosecco 😭 I've attached a photo for reference, I'm fully prepared to accept this may be down to user error but I just want it open!

I was going to suggest get your biggest kitchen knife and sabre it, but you opened it already.

It's always the theme tune to 999 lifesavers for me when I'm going to do something stupid. It did pop into my head when I had the pliers, biggest kitchen knife and marigolds lined up on the worktop

I came across one of these things this week - needed some for fish pie.

Half an hour I was at it. Bloody thing.

Then I remembered the contraption that unscrews tight lids and bazinga.

If that hadn’t worked it would have been the turkey carving knife.
