How easy is it to buy a house on my own (nothing to do with DH)?

We are currently renting. DH has a poor credit history and due to lockdown his job isn’t secure so he may lose it over the next few months.

I have an excellent credit history and a secure salary high enough to buy a small house.

However as we’re married, it is apparently impossible for me to buy a house in solely my name, using my salary, and it seems that banks do not like issuing mortgages to just one spouse and leaving the other spouse off the paperwork.

Can it be done? How?

I've done this more than once for exactly the same reasons - an application was effectively stronger in my name only. DH isn't on the deeds or on the mortgage. Its still our house rather than my house!

Only found a couple of lenders where it was a problem and I just didn't go with them. Currently with Barclays, got the mortgage through a broker no problem, was previously with first direct.

@speakout What on earth is depressing about it? If you actually read my previous post you would see that everything goes into one pot here. Either our own house is bought on my salary alone or we keep renting... Confused

Very easy.

"We" own two houses (one residential and one BTL) and both are in just my name.

No issues as long as you can afford the mortgage on your income only. They do not take into account any contribution from your hubby.
