I read somewhere recently that rubbing a 2 pence piece on limescaled taps works.

Never tried myself, and literally can't remember where I read it so it could easily be an internet lie.

May be worth a try, though.

It’s limescale isn’t it?

RustyBear · 14/11/2020 22:56

Looks like limescale You can get a silicone bag which you fill with limescale remover and hang on the tap to soak it off

LubaLuca · 14/11/2020 22:56

It looks like it's just limescale.

I tried the wet copper coin on lime scale with deep scepticism, but it worked!

LER83 · 14/11/2020 22:57

Limescale, can scrape it off with 2p coin. I usually soak some cotton wool in limescale remover and place over the limescale for half hour then scrape it off.

If you haven't seen it before, you've probably moved from a soft water area to a hard water one, so be prepared to fight a lifelong battle against limescale - or get a water softener!

AFAIK where I live isn't a hard water area ( I can drink the water and it doesn't upset my stomach - it usually does) so am very surprised at this. Will try the 2p truck and then buy limescale remover if it doesn't work. Thanks all!

Use half a lemon secured over it overnight. No need to buy chemicals!

White vinegar soaked on to tap, wrap kitchen paper/towel around it so it tonis soaked. Secure with hair band and leave over night. Give it a scrub with an old toothbrush. You might have to have a few attempts if it’s really hard.
