How do you define love?

NB: the title isn't "what is love" because the only acceptable response to that would be "baby don't hurt me, don't hurt me, no more" Grin

I have no idea why I'm asking this, I just thought it would be interesting to see how different people define love, because I really don't know how to put it into words. I'm not a journo or anything like that, I promise! Just interested Smile

So, in summary... what IS love?

When you love someone you want to see them happy and will make sacrifices for them. They mean more to you than others and you have your deepest emotions (sometimes positive, sometimes not) for them.
Being in their company should be a pleasure (at least most of the time!) and you would never want to be without them.

It's funny, I think i have a different love for DH than DS but the above would apply to both. For DS, it's utterly unconditional and I would lay down my life for him in a heartbeat.

That's lovely!

I think it's when every time you imagine you life in the future, you imagine them in it.

When you can spend all day with them and still be up chatting late into the night.

When you find that you're putting their needs above your own in certain situations, and when you'd sacrifice certain things from your own life to make them happy (of course a balance needs to be struck here).

When they're the first person you want to tell good news AND bad news to.

And when their hugs can make pretty much anything feel better.

That's love for me.
