Do you have any savings and what do you plan to do with them?

I was just thinking that we have some small savings ( had been saving in case needed another Mat leave) and what I might need to do in the future

I wanted more kids but we haven't been lucky so now as it's a rainy Saturday I was thinking about my future

We have a decentish small house which we can stay in now as don't need any more space

I earn ok and could probably increase my earning potential if I tried harder( I've been a bit distracted with ttc so now can focus on this)

Luckily I'm in a fairly secure job

I want to support dd when she is older

I probably need to spend a bit on the house to make it nicer

In your situation I’d work harder to earn more.

Then reduce my mortgage, to give a bit of spare cash for fun things.

Save for my kids future and my own pension.

The most happiness I’ve ever had from a large sum of money ( savings ) was being able to get my oldest child onto the property ladder. Worth far more to me than driving a fancy new car. Now they are going through university and their flatmates are paying their mortgage instead of us shelling out rent to some rubbish landlord who never does repairs.

Long term Savings- over 40k - for house extension
Dd saving accounts-over 11k for university or house deposit
Ds saving account- over 8k sane as for dd
Car savings- was 2k but both car insurances came out so it's just about 800 left.
General emergency savings -just under 2k
Christmas/birthdays - was at 1.2k but I have spent 500 on dc for Christmas so far

6k at the moment. Saving for a house deposit. Am incredibly lucky to have moved in with a friend, who has paid off their mortgage so only charges me minimal rent.

We're saving for a bigger house. It will be our first home together (I own the current house outright).

We've also started saving for retirement. I know lots of people who retire and their pensions just cover living expenses. We want to have money to be able to go on holiday or go out for a meal without having to count the pennies.
