Argh. I am incapable of making a decision. DS loves the balance bike at nursery (cost

Look at Decathlon, we got an excellent balance bike from there for £35 I think.

I personally didn't use it on grass, we took it to the park and practised on our streets. I don't think you'd get the speed up on grass.

Unless the ground is sodden, I think grass is excellent for getting going on a balance bike, the inevitable falls and slips are far less painful than on a hard surface. Once they're off, nothing will stop them!

Thank you both. I will look at Decathlon. There are hard surfaces at home, but I was thinking of keeping him to the back garden because of the likely falls. Just don't want him to get stuck and frustrated on grass.

If he's using one at nursery and get him straight on the hard surface. What is the worst that will happen? Grin

He's my PFB and what I don't know can't hurt me Grin

You make a good point.

I'd go for one with tyres that can be used in most surfaces. Many do puncture proof foam tyres that are easy on pavements and parks.
