Can I make chutney from old apples?

I have a load of apples that are slightly soft...I don’t want to waste the ingredients if it’s not a good idea.

This recipe suggests you can! :)

The apples are softened to mush by the cooking process, so I would give it a go. Cutting any obvious bad bits out.

Hahaha, I just read that as "Can I make chutney from old nappies?"
Time for bed.

I used this recipe this week - delicious!!

WitchQueenofDarkness · 12/11/2020 14:11

Yes absolutely. Just cut away any badly bruised bits

@kennelmaid grim 😂

Thank you all. I’ve got so many from my tree I don’t know what to do with them.

I know the feeling Pea. Same position. The only reason I didn't make chutney is that it encourages me to eat cheese and crackers lots of cheese and crackers Grin

My chutney is cooking as I type. Thanks for this suggestion - my mum had left another bag of cooking apples that I wasn't sure what to do with. If this works I'll have a few jars to gift too. I've never made chutney before so fingers crossed.
