Ds having night sweats

Ds (19) has said that recently he has been having night sweats.

He says that he often wakes up during the night and is completely drenched in sweat and his bed is completely damp.

He says he doesn’t believe the temperature in the room is too high.

Anyone know why this might be?

He needs to see his GP.

Has he any other symptoms? Fatigue? Bone/joint pain? Unusual bleeding? Infections hard to shake off?

I think it would be worth a trip to the GP and getting a full blood count done to see if anything jumps out

He says he doesn’t.

He really doesn’t do that much exercise though and his diet could be healthier. Not sure if that might have something to do with it

One of my ds used to suffer from this when he was only 4-5, he grew out of it. He was permanently drenched in bed and ruined his mattress. He used to sweat from falling asleep throughout the night. Gp wasn't interested! Stopped suddenly and never happens now but he is a very hot child.

Trip to the GP, make sure that he checks his lymph nodes, look for any swelling under arms, in neck or in groin.

Many years back I went to the gp with nightsweats, they decided my thyroid must be overactive but discovered randomly it was under. The night sweats only stopped when we realised that it was Raynaud's phenomena causing them - basically I'd bundle in to warm my extremities up, super heat then drench myself in sweat.

He definitely needs to see a gp though even if it turns out to be something random like mine was.

Hot sweat, like flaming June? Or a cooler, clammy sweat?

Idroppedthescrewinthetuna · 10/11/2020 20:44

I had a swollen lymph node. First thing Dr asked me was if I had night sweats. He should contact GP, It is probably nothing but could be something.
