House buying envy

First of all, I didn't put this in AIBU as I know I'm being unreasonable but want a slight rant nonetheless! A close friend and her husband are house hunting with serious help from her parents. They earn considerably less than my me and my husband but are looking at houses worth at least 100k more than we could afford. I know I'm really lucky in many ways but for some reason this has really rankled. I think it's the fact she speaks about the purchase without acknowledging the help that's enabled them to be in this position - what I mean is my husband and I purchased under our own steam and my friend speaks as if her situation is the same?

I would never say anything as no good would come of it but aaaarghhhhh - it's frustrating!

Why should she openly acknowledge the help so much? I think you are being unreasonable. Several of my friends purchased much larger, more expensive houses than mine with the help of their parents and it did not bother me one bit.

@MaelyssQ

Comparison is the thief of joy.
This here is so very true.

I have friends and family members with massive houses ... (some of whom are miserable.) and friends and family who live in tiny terraces and rented bungalows. Learning to be happy in your situation and enjoy their homes when we are allowed to visit (ie not in lockdown) this is a key to happiness in life.

There will always be someone with a bigger home and a richer daddy... etc. Just be happy for them.

Comparison is the thief of joy.
