Please help me plan my wedding!

I originally was supposed to have just a registry wedding but an odd twist of fate means I can have a more traditional celebration. It will be next October (if Covid allows) . I'm really struggling with finding a venue and staying within budget. Location wise... Well it can be anywhere from Cornwall to East Anglia (although ideally somewhere in between like the Cotswolds). Would rather have an industrial venue, no more than 80 guests, no legal ceremony will take place, but a religious one will (so we need the setup). I don't want to spend more than £5k and that's pushing it. Tia!

MN loves planning a wedding, but your description is a bit vague. You will also find a lot more people around on a Monday than a Sunday, but when you do find them they will need to know:

What is an industrial venue?
What is "the setup" that you need?
Does the budget include your dress/the groom's outfits/bridesmaids stuff?
If you can get married anywhere in the south of England, do you anticipate that you and the groom will stay for the night before in different venues, close to the venue, and is that part of your budget?
Where will most of your guests be travelling from?
With a 5k budget, why not stay close to home, and use the funds to have the best wedding you can there?

That's helpful and here are some answers:

What is an industrial venue? Warehouse /factory type vibe
What is "the setup" that you need? I need somewhere to have a ceremony but don't need a permit as it won't be a legal one. People can be seated at their tables for the ceremony bit
Does the budget include your dress/the groom's outfits/bridesmaids stuff? Nope just the actual wedding. No bridesmaids.
If you can get married anywhere in the south of England, do you anticipate that you and the groom will stay for the night before in different venues, close to the venue, and is that part of your budget? In happy to stay at a hotel somewhere nearby and depending on the price not part of the budget.
Where will most of your guests be travelling from? It's a mix between Cornwall, London, and East Anglia.
With a 5k budget, why not stay close to home, and use the funds to have the best wedding you can there? We live in Cornwall so it's actually quite expensive!

Forgot to add this will be one of three weddings. The first will be the day of the registry office one a second religious one in October, and a third one in my home country for all of my friends and family whenever we can (most likely 2022).

Industrial could mean either a modern prefab on an industrial estate or a grade 2 listed cotton or paper mill. The former you can hire anywhere and hire in caterers. The latter may be more complex as many are already transformed into venues and therefore out with your budget. Are you after steampunk/period?
If modern building with old stuff meets your need maybe the Shuttleworth collection?

Fressia123 · 08/11/2020 16:32

No we're not into steampunk but I find having a wedding with the breathtaking setting a bit of a fraud because my nearest band dearest won't be with me.

We're happy to do it at the local park and then the pub but not sure of we can use the park that way.

It's also because I thought an industrial venue could potentially be cheaper than a traditional one.
