Do bite proof sippy cups (with valves) exist?

My twins are pretty intense chewers - we’ve been using NUK hard spout cups for about a year. They chewed them but they mostly held together. Had to replace a few, nothing too bad but now they’re all unusable so I bought more. Even though the spouts are removable you can’t buy just the spouts which is annoying, but I bought new cups.

They change the design frequently but these new ones are shocking. See photos - DT1 (nickname Jaws) managed to squash one between his teeth in less than a minute. This is what happened to the one I left him with while i was on a phone call.

They’ve obviously changed the material as they weren’t this weak previously.

I feel like we’ve tried every cup in existence. Can’t use straws, anything with a silicone / rubbery seal like a 360 cup is broken in seconds, literally.

Is there anything out there that exists that will last more than a day in my house?!

This is just one of many issues we are having (can’t find anything for him to sleep in he can’t remove or chew through) but most pressing as I have no other ideas!

Thanks everyone - hopefully this will work and yes, i would much rather just have to replace the spouts than the whole cup every time, so wasteful!

Yeah, I have no idea why they continue to recommend the deryan bed tent to people - I know so many whose kids have been injured. They are just not designed for kids like ours!

They definitely are very good at problem solving when motivated. Luckily they love their new beds and can’t get out so night times are much less stressful now!

Not sure how much they drink but the tops also fit all the other size of Kleen Kanteens so if they are big drinkers, you wouldn't have to refill them so often. However being metal they do make quite handy weapons full of water (as I found out when one was thrown at me by my husband accidentally).

It looks like you may have found a solution but I was going to suggest these www.sportsdirect.com/nike-sport-water-bottle-840160?google&gclid=Cj0KCQiAy579BRCPARIsAB6QoIadLGowavDNwJ2eYgtykW6k_ai9-ngEo3MrIC27VmNjYTMiYhWoeMMaAtGLEALw_wcB#colcode=84016018&fo_c=3681&fo_k=5154f45555c85890d9acc0495d7eb8f3&fo_s=gplauk

As for safe chew toys, would you consider something designed for dogs? The black Kong toys are designed for power chewers - bull terriers etc. and are virtually indestructible. You may be able to find something in their range that's a suitable shape?

I have a chewer (nothing like your two though!) and was wondering whether you could recommend anything for him. He's almost 2, his favourite thing to chew is his fingers (which are getting sore!) or a Calpol syringe. Everything that I and nursery have offered him seem to have been too wide for his liking and he won't touch them.

I haven’t found a dog toy yet that’s the right shape for him but will keep looking.

If he likes chewing on Calpol tubes i would try Chewy Tubes which are quite long and thin. There’s a yellow one which is the thinnest I think (never had one as it would be in pieces in a minute here!) or the green textured ones are good. We mainly use the blue ones which are the thickest or the red knobbly one :) Just look on Chewy Tubes on Amazon.

When DT2 was younger and weaker of jaw we used these for ages - they have different textures which he might like :)

Thank you, that's very helpful! Will try the molar magician one first as at the moment nursery need him to be able to keep it with him so other kids can't use it, so something I can attach a lanyard to is better.

SinkGirl · 08/11/2020 10:07

You can attach Chewy Tubes to lanyards and clips too if you get ones that have a loop on the end :)

Dummy clips often work well :) There are also some chew toys that come on a lanyard or clip (chewigem I think have a few) but most can be fastened to one. I think I’ve tried every chew toy in existence at this point!

Yes I did just mean the ordinary TT ones as these are the only ones I've found that don't leak and are hard spout. But they only don't leak if the spout is pressed down - they defo leak if shaken as you have found!

I know there are some SN stores that sell things like sensory toys and chewelry - would any of those sell a bite proof cup maybe?

Sounds like the kleen kanteen should work though. Fingers crossed!

Chewigem ones are the ones that nursery got him. I've used their cords to attach to some of his various teethers, but a finger or Calpol syringe is still the preference!

I found these on a trawl last night (if anyone else is looking) so will get some of the KKs don’t work out. I prefer a screw top though as they have managed to pull lids off things before. It’s a minefield!

If an older type of cup worker have you tried asking on Little Blue Cup?

gigglingHyena · 08/11/2020 14:46

Ark grabbers in XXT (usually bluebof green) have been the only sensory chews which have lasted here. The smooth ones seem better than the textured ones, which DS always manages to bite the knobbly bits off.

Pendants, even in the same material are short lived. Although the Lego one has done OK.
