Ideas to keep kids entertained whilst parent is unwell

My lovely friend has just tested positive for COVID. She's a lone parent and has two girls aged 9 and 11 and so they all have to stay in and isolate.

Can anyone suggest anything I can drop at her door for the kids to keep them entertained whilst their mum is unwell? They're a little older so technically are fairly self sufficient, but it's a long time to sit and watch tv so if there's anything I can do to break the monotony (and ideally order from Amazon!) I'd be grateful for any suggestions!

I recently ordered my friend who's been self isolating with her kid a craft box from Baker and Ross from Amazon. Was a hit.

ask the dc to cook dinner (pancakes?)
should keep them busy for a while.

Thank you all! This friend has been particularly good to me recently (I have a newborn and just moved house) so I wanted to give her something in return. It's just a shame it can't be any childcare right now because that's what she'd benefit the most from! I'm going to get ordering some of these suggestions!

How about some kids magazines?
Or if you know what they like reading then a couple of new books?

9 and 11 girls are the right age for unsupervised bath bombs as well. What a lovely friend you are Flowers

Gingerbread or similar plain biscuits, and those icing tubes. Tesco bakery counter had this as a kit..

I’d avoid baking or anything that the poorly parent has to do with them and clear up afterwards so stuff that is simple and avoids mess. Drawing, books, popcorn for a movie, uno.

-Some new books if they are keen on reading
-where's Wally books
-scratch art pictures

Modern Colouring book and pencils

Ask them to make a ‘get well’ card for their mum

Invisimamma · 07/11/2020 17:32

That's so thoughtful!

Drop off an easy dinner, something like. Tortilla wraps, chicken bites, cheese slices, pre cut veg etc they can throw together themselves. Or send them a dominoes pizza!

Popcorn, snacks and a new dvd.

New colouring pens and activity/puzzle book or magazine. Stay away from any complicated crafts that will need parental help of involvement.

At 9 and 11 they should be able to follow instructions and do building kits. I was thinking airfix, the ship equivalents or timberkits. Lego, paper crafts - I have a great big book 1000 things to make and do - and a supply of paints, colouring pens, paper and glue. And books. Libraries have all sorts of craft books.

If it were me I'd be concerned about my kids eating loads of crap while I was sick so something containing vegetables would be appreciated. Spag bol?
