Ways to Live Sustainably

David Attenborough's new film has me determined to change our lifestyle to help out.

I know that one household is a drop in the ocean in the grand scheme of things, however I'm hoping that it will also help my children to do the same, thus triggering an effect that grows.

I realise how truly important it is to take responsibility for we treat the planet, and I'd like to make better choices, as I admit that we aren't currently doing much to help this at all.

I'd probably like to start by addressing the amount of products we have that contains palm oil in the house.

I will, and have, conduct a bit of my own research into this, however would really appreciate any changes that anyone could suggest in this regards.

one of the easiest ways we have reduced our waste was by picking black berries and apples.
we basically live free for fruit half of the year.

Less meat/dairy
Use of single use plastics
Air miles in food

Get manufacturers and suppliers (packaging) to do it first. Should start there.

I felt the same, OP.

Overnight we went from eating meat most days to one meat, one fish per week. I was already dairy free due to baby DS being allergic but we are now all having oat milk and non dairy versions of things.

Be careful with switching to processed alternatives, they can be much worse environmentally (almond milk).

Eat what's local- british food is not flown in from anywhere, and is reasonably ethically produced. No need to by fair trade sugar, by british sugar (tate and lyle). Use oats- very low impact crop- to make milk if you want to.
